"you haven't seen every image. you haven't read every book. you've gone to a handful things, and there are things that are very specific to you. that's a superpower. these tools haven't experienced the world in specific way you have."

Earlier this summer, The Atlantic's AI Watchdog tool showed musicians which of their songs appear in public AI training datasets. I built onus.fm to take that further: look up any artist, see how much of their catalog shows up, and get a modeled estimate of what that exposure could represent in dollars. Artists can search themselves, and fans can connect their listening. 758,889 artists. 13.5M recordings. Now with a modeled dollar estimate. onus.fm

Stripe’s homepage has 637 KB of HTML for 539 words. Humans read it for free, but a bot needs $0.26 to read the same words, because it wades 87,400 tokens of markup, if it even gets there. With this in mind, I built a lens that shows you any webpage the way machines see them

I had the chance to present aadhar.sh/lens at @newinterfaces as an opinionated object expressing an otherwise invisible view, that of the ~60% of web traffic represented by bots and the monetary, resource, and accessibility costs they must pay to LARP as a human today

we're back !!
we're back for @newinterfaces 005! this month, we're curious about opinionated objects. how might creations express a specific view from somewhere? we're seeking demos that dialogue with the past, tell stories about a local present, or add nuance to the future. sign up below!
