What a feeling this becoming big and better 5th December Kaunda Tujja
In 2024, I participated in the @TheGuluMarathon as a runner/walker. A couple of friends, acquaintances and I had planned to walk or run just 5km. Somehow, we ended up doing 10km, and quite frankly, we could have gone another 10km because the conversations we had along the route became far more interesting than we had anticipated. 😂 In 2025, I returned, this time as both a participant and a collaborator. Through a partnership between our organisation, @HashtagGulu, @KasUganda, @qataharraymond and the @IMChallengeug, we organised and curated a space for a conversation reflecting on 20 years since the cessation of the LRA insurgency in northern Uganda. It was a timely and important conversation, especially considering how much Gulu has grown and transformed from the difficult years of the war to the city we know today. And, just like the previous year, the marathon gave us another opportunity to reconnect with friends, acquaintances, former schoolmates, childhood friends and many others. This year, I have decided to take my involvement a step further. I see the #GuluCityMarathon as more than just an annual sporting event. I see the opportunities it presents for a growing city like Gulu, the cause it stands for, the impact it is creating in our communities, and the vision behind it. For these reasons, I will not only participate but also collaborate more actively with the organisers through @fourthhub_ug, as part of our commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives and causes that create lasting impact. To @FGimara and the entire Gulu City Marathon team, thank you for starting something that has the potential to outlive all of us. My colleagues at @fourthhub_ug and I are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this story and help shape what it could become. To my fellow Gulu City residents, this is our opportunity! We have an opportunity to position our city, showcase what we have to offer, and contribute to changing the narrative about Acholi and northern Uganda. Whether you choose to do business and make some money, welcome the thousands of visitors expected in Gulu in early December, volunteer, cheer on the runners and walkers along the different routes, or simply extend our famous Acholi hospitality, there is something for everyone. And to everyone coming from outside Gulu, we are ready to welcome you! If I were you, I would register now to secure my slot and running kit, and start making transport and accommodation arrangements early enough. After all, in Acholi, we say starting early is the medicine for rain. 😁 See you all on 5th December 2026! But first, register to participate. Then tell a friend, and even better, help them register too. If you can, consider sponsoring someone else to run or walk. You never know what that opportunity might mean to them. Let’s make this year’s @TheGuluMarathon one to remember! To register, click here: gulucitymarathon.com/registe…

A new chapter for our co-founder, @BenOngomTweets . After years in the newsroom, he is stepping into corporate and development communication with @NUSAFIV and @OPMUganda, carrying forward one dream: putting Northern Uganda on the map. As our co-founder bows out of the newsroom, there is also something to celebrate: this year, Fourth Hub was born in Gulu. Under the leadership of our team lead @OjokOkot_, a dream long in the making has become one of the region's biggest media and creative hubs, and Northern Uganda's first creative hub. 🎬 Thank you all for the warm wishes and love. We humbly appreciate every one of you.

There is no failing or crying over this one. The organisation started in December last year; the 2025 edition was concluded immediately. In fact, it is one of the best and most professionally organised events in northern Uganda. CC: @FGimara, @LoumBernard, @WasswaEmma_, @BenOngomTweets, @fourthhub_ug, @PaLabeja

Dear @KKariisa , Group CEO,@nextmediaug , Today, I want to say thank you. Thank you for nurturing me, for believing in me, and for trusting me. We have talked about many things over the years, but one conversation stands out: let’s put Northern Uganda on the map. Today, I give you your flowers. You have been more than a boss. Wherever my journey takes me, I will always be a Transformer. To the many of you who mentored me, thank you. Madam Goretti, @Imokola , @joycebagala1 , @DaltonKaweesa @PayiraBonnie: you believed in my talent before the world knew my name, and you pushed me every single day. I am deeply grateful. As I transition into corporate and development communication with @NUSAFIV and @OPMUganda , a lot has been said. My clarity is in the video below. As I bow out of the newsroom, I am proud to share that this year I founded @fourthhub_ug in Gulu, one of the biggest media and creative hubs in the region. Under the leadership of our team lead, @OjokOkot_ , this dream has been a long time coming, and finally, Northern Uganda has its first creative hub. Thank you all for the warm wishes and the love on social media. I humbly appreciate every one of you. To my @NBSBreakingNews family, @SimonKaggwaNjal @ShamNabakooza @SamsonMKasumba @CanaryMugume @TusiimeSheila @HakimKanyere @HakiimsWampamba @OmagorJoseph @ObadiaOtim @poshaaloyo @RonnieMcVex and many more, thank you.

UPDATE: Former Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has urged communities in Northern Uganda to embrace shea nut farming and preserve shea nut trees instead of cutting them down for charcoal production. Owiny-Dollo noted that shea nuts could provide the people of northern Uganda with better economic returns than charcoal. He made the remarks while officiating the launch of the Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Shea Landscape of Northern Uganda programme funded by Conservation International (CI). The $32.4 million programme will be implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment and initially will focus on four districts: Pader, Agago, Kitgum and Otuke, where shea nut trees are commonly found. The initiative aims to promote sustainable management of shea nut landscapes while strengthening communities' resilience to climate change and supporting livelihoods through the sustainable use of shea nut resources. #MonitorUpdates 📸: Geofrey Mutumba
