“Power should shift to younger people because they are creative, hardworking and bring fresh ideas and energy,” said Olupot Noah, a student from Karenge District, proposing the motion: “This House believes that younger people make better leaders than older people.”
Noah argued that national development requires fresh thinking and the ability to turn ideas into practical solutions. He cited Burkina Faso under Captain Ibrahim Traoré as an example of what he believes young leadership can contribute to a country’s development.

Today, young leaders from across Karamoja take the stage at Moroto District Council Hall for the first-ever Karamoja Regional Inter-School Debate Competition.
They will exchange ideas on issues shaping their communities—from rural development and climate change to accountability and the leadership needed for the future. The debate gives students a platform to share their views, challenge one another’s thinking and take part in conversations about Karamoja’s future.
Young people have a voice in shaping the decisions that affect their communities.

Young people from all the nine districts of karamoja are coming together for the karamoja regional inter-school debate to learn, interact, gain civic competence and confidence that strengthens the roles that impact their future under the theme: “Youth Inclusion in Governance and decision making”. This is more than competition but exposure that builds experience in the journey of future leadership.
Young people need a seat in governance and decision making spaces not a voice to present ideas.

On Friday 16th October, MCI and DW Akademie, with support from the @EUinUG , brought together editors from upcountry and urban media houses for the Editor Collaboration Lab at the @mcimediahub.
The one-day engagement tackled real gaps in Uganda’s newsroom ecosystem such as AI integration in the editorial work flow and fact checking as well as well media viability and financial sustainability.
When newsrooms collaborate, stories travel further and communities are better served.
This initiative is in partnership with @dw_akademie and @EUinUG.

Strengthening EU–youth partnerships in West Nile! 🇪🇺🤝🏽
The EU Delegation visited West Nile to review ongoing initiatives in the region and strengthen its engagement with young people. Through its support for various initiatives, including the PACER consortium, the EU is creating opportunities for young people to engage in civic processes, amplify their voices, and actively participate in safeguarding human rights.
When young people are part of civic processes, they can hold leaders accountable, influence decisions, and drive change in their communities. Stronger partnerships mean more opportunities for young people to shape the future they want.
