Excited to share with you the story that enabled me to start my own lab: what happens when the bacterial DNA replication machinery encounters single-strand discontinuities on template DNA? What is required for DNA break repair and replication restart? biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

A new study from scientists at @sheffielduni and @ucddublin has revealed how the hospital superbug MRSA can grow and divide in the presence of antibiotics.
MRSA is an antimicrobial resistance superbug that causes over 120,000 deaths a year. The findings @ScienceMagazine offer hope in treating the life-threatening bug and other infectious diseases.

Excited to announce our latest work on how MRSA conquers antibiotics. We used #AFM & #ImageAnalysis to show that resistant S. aureus cells have an alternative mode of division to ensure survival. This is an amazing collaborative work from @Sheffield_AFM and @foster_Lab. 🔬🧫📊
Some incredibly exciting work coming from the collaboration between @Sheffield_AFM and @foster_lab. Here, @Olulana4 has shown that MRSA employs an alternate mode of division in order to survive in the presence of methicillin.
