Distressingly, @BusinessInsider has published strong journalism from @EmilyStewartM and others about problems in the ticketing marketplace.
And now they're running affiliate link SEO slop for Stubhub and Vivid Seats. businessinsider.com/guides/t…
It’s unreal how much unethical behavior @StubHub is involved in!
Contradiction Alert: @StubHub Requires Arbitration But Refuses to Pay Arbitration Fees. The two instances shown add to StubHub’s tally of approximately 10 recent cases where it has failed to pay required arbitration fees within 30 days. The American Arbitration Association won’t work for free and throws cases out when the business doesn’t pay. StubHub plays the dirty game of forcing arbitration on consumers, refusing to pay required fees so the case gets closed out by the AAA, and then seeing if consumers know what to do next.
. @StubHub Canada fined $20K under Ontario law capping tickets at face value cp24.com/local/toronto/2026/…
The issue is, you call it free market when you raise the price and greed when the person on stage raises the price.
How is it fine for you and not the people actually performing?

Spoiler alert: they used Distrokid. (Support @404mediaco and others who do good investigative journalism!)
Anyone can upload AI slop music to anyone's Spotify page. We tested it, and it's trivial to do:

Remember when a bunch of scalpers on Twitter, like @BlueDotFlu and @ScottFriedman3, claimed "Blue Dot Fever" for the @TheOfficialA7X and @GoodCharlotte tour?
That didn't age well when you look at final sales for the tour

New report: ticket fees + reseller markups cost fans $11B/year. The policy response gaining traction: cap platform fees at 10% and ban above-face resale.
That’s a symptom fix. The real disease is that teams don’t own their ticketing infrastructure. They rent the fan relationship from ticketing marketplaces whose economics run on fees.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with a ticket getting more expensive when demand exceeds supply. The team created the product, owns the inventory and should be able to price it accordingly. They need to balancing revenue against the long-term relationship with fans.
The problem is when brokers and marketplaces sit between the team and fan, capture the upside from that demand, and have incentives that aren’t fully aligned with either side.
And fee caps can actually make that worse for teams: they lose economics without gaining any more control.
Teams need to go direct. When they do, they own the marketplace, the data and the economics. Its incentive is to maximize the lifetime value of the fan, not the fees on a transaction.
Fix who owns the relationship, and you fix the incentives at the root of the problem.
Any of you 🤡 going to respond to the study proving ticket resale costs fans $11B per year?
It's shocking how quiet you get when presented with unbiased facts!
@tommydprimetim1 is this enough for you to rethink your stance on the secondary marketplaces?

While resale advocacy groups claim secondary markets save fans money when tickets sell under face value, the VPA’s data shows that fans actually lose $12 to gouging for every $1 saved

They make way more money than they lose or they wouldn't do it. Whose money r they taking? The fans u say brokers help to get cheap seats. If the scalpers didn't exist, the shows wouldn't sell out so fast & fans would actually be able to buy tickets for the price the artist sets
