Talking of statistics, here's an interesting chart from Marcus Cicero showing how buying a house has moved out of reach for so many islanders.
Methodology and caveats from him here:

Always interesting from @jburnmurdoch, I wonder what a similar chart for Guernsey would look like.
New from me:
Until recently, the gap between comfortably-off and just-getting-started could plausibly be crossed in a decade or two of hard work.
Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true.

Rule 4(1) is relevant. It requires Deputies amongst other things to check their amendment with HMP and States Greffier. One or both would’ve/should’ve pointed out issues. Amendments say submitted to former and drafting advice asked of latter. We don’t know what he was advised.

For a generation or more @Govgg hasn’t cared about high house prices or the burden it places on islanders.
(In)action to date suggests it’s lukewarm about the crisis.
Planning has independently been criticised for releasing too few plots.
Go figure, as they say.
Ahem, @GuyPlummer34449, was today the sound of the penny dropping?
Will they collectively stop singing Bonnie Tyler, hoping for a hero to come up with an alternative that doesn't exist?
Guernsey Press exit poll has been published, it was relatively accurate last year. I will be interested to see the overall turnout #guernsey #byelection2026

Quite extraordinary to see what has become of the “old” City Hall.
Opened by the Queen in 2002. Vacated by London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan in 2021.

Will there be an audit of how this exemption came into being? Why it was proposed and by whom, who agreed it should be progressed and what political oversight it was exposed to?
This is almost more important than the MyGov report.
Let us hope we can create the conditions to allow future generations to actually live in Guernsey. Not much sign of it at the moment. I'm not sure, however well meaning, extra legislation is going to help solve that conundrum.

Oh dear, @Govgg can't catch a break. Last week was talk of the problem of disinformation spreading, not sure this is what was in mind! Thanks @GuernseyPress and @matt_fallaize for highlighting this.

One of the worst things about committee government is that some people can never stop talking. The chair has a key role, not always done that well. The key is to have a laser like focus on what is trying to be achieved strategically & politically on every item for discussion.
To borrow a plummerism - 💯

Fringe groups get disproportionate access to our government. The system of government & our deputies being independent (on no collective manifesto) leaves them vulnerable to lobbying for things that hold little sway amongst the wider public.
