Oh god, is it Starship Troopers Discourse Day again already? I swear it gets earlier every year.

Not sure. I think she just likes being a bit annoying. If you look closely you can see she's not actually sat down. She's crouching, on her tiny dagger paws... 🙄

The cat who doesn't do laps, kinda forgot who she was for a minute.

The grungy, gritty Scottish realism just can't be translated. It's difficult to find actors unlikeable enough for most of the roles. Jonny Lee Miller didn't even come close to Sick Boy of the book. Robert Carlisle did his best as Begbie, but it was still cartoonish.

Same thing with Filth. Great book. Shit film. Maybe Irvine Welsh is unadaptable from page to screen.

I once dropped a half pint bottle of concentrated fluorescein dye onto the tiled floor of my lab. It took literally hundreds of gallons on water to flush it all down the drain.

incredible how cats can detect the softest most sensitive organs in a human body for the sole purpose of standing on them with the weight of the sun concentrated into tiny kitty paws

Almost like the UK is really good at on the ground stuff, but is spectacularly shit at managment of that activity. I am not aiming this at any particular group of research councils...

The NHS remains an astonishing thing. Yes, there are inefficiencies that could be ironed out, but I think these are almost exclusively in management and bureaucracy. Frontline NHS is something the UK should be rightly proud of.
