“You guys want to fire hellfire missiles at fentanyl labs in Canada? We’re all for it.” Across Canada’s right-wing online ecosystem, social media creators are talking about Alberta separatism and watching the clicks roll in. A few are plausibly earning six figures pushing their grievance-driven ideologies. @emmapaling reports: thewalrus.ca/youtube-influen…

“criticizing Israel” is a Canadian media euphemism for what the woman actually said, which is that the Jewish state was “luring starving Palestinian children to their concentration camp food aid depots so they can snipe them dead”

“on the 401 heading south”
Friends from Toronto sent me this. Apparently, this was seen on the 401 heading south this past week.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The image is an altered version of a 2020 "Bye CA!" photo about leaving California, itself digitally edited. Detectors rate it 96-99% AI-generated. Hwy 401 primarily runs east-west. verif.quebec/2026/07/fact-c… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_H…

Over 850 wildfires are burning across Canada, engulfing several First Nations in smoke. In 2023, @emmapaling spoke to Indigenous activists who had one piece of advice for governments on how to halt the now-annual fires: stop building pipelines.

Jenni Byrne + Associates, the company owned by Poilievre's campaign manager Jenni Byrne, is a registered lobbyist for Penny Lane Entertainment, the company that owns Cowboys.
City Hall gatekeepers are making a big mistake killing jobs, smothering country music culture, and cutting back performances at the world-famous Cowboys celebration during the Calgary Stampede. Millions flock to the Stampede because IT IS FUN to stay up late and listen to loud music. That brings nearly a billion dollars in tourism and excitement for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Hopefully, City Hall will let this 30-year-old music event continue as it has in years past and grow.
