My writing on Palestine, a 🧵
I’ve been writing on this since the fall – in fact, it’s been hard to focus on anything else.
“What We Talk about When We Talk about Food Security” – on Gaza, poverty and neoliberal "moves to innocence".

When Canada added the offence of "advocating or promoting genocide" to the Criminal Code in 1970, it intentionally excluded three of the five acts of genocide listed in the Genocide Convention:
🇨🇦 Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
🇨🇦 Imposing measures intended to prevent births; and
🇨🇦 Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
It wasn't until 2000, just a few years after the last residential school closed, that the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act brought the full international definition of genocide into Canadian law.

"This escalation comes as the Israeli elections approach, and with them, the competition over security, power, victory, and who can prove themselves tougher than the others.
...
Our spilled blood has now become part of this political competition too."
During the past few days, the pace of Israeli strikes and attacks in Gaza has clearly intensified, bringing back a feeling we never really escaped in the first place: not knowing who will be next.
Yesterday, a group of civilians was targeted. Four people were killed and others were wounded, some critically, with little hope of survival.
Today, a public bus was targeted in al Alhawa while pulling a trailer that was also packed with passengers. So far, reports say that six people were killed and around 15 others wounded, some of them critically.
Just ordinary people trying to get from one place to another.
This escalation comes as the Israeli elections approach, and with them, the competition over security, power, victory, and who can prove themselves tougher than the others.
And what better way to prove strength in a country where power and arrogance have increasingly become measures of success?
The blood of innocent people. Yes, our blood.
Our spilled blood has now become part of this political competition too.
Killing more people in Gaza can be presented to Israeli voters as proof of strength. Another torn Palestinian body becomes another number that some politician can somehow add to the list of his achievements.
For them, this may be about elections, polls, seats, coalitions, and who will be in power a few weeks from now.
For us, an Israeli strike means that a mother will hear her son’s name among the dead today.
A child will return to the tent without his father.
A man got on public transport this morning simply because he needed to get somewhere, and his life ended before he arrived.
This is what all these speeches about strength look like from our side.
I don’t know how many more times we are expected to die before everyone has finally proved how strong they are over our bodies.
Ya Wahdna…
How much pain can one people carry? My heart hurts from all of this.

The situation in Gaza is going from bad to worse. For the past two days, the suspicious movement of drones over Gaza has not stopped, along w airstrikes, random shelling, and attacks targeting dozens of people.
Today, a bus was hit, followed by a car behind it, leaving many people killed and injured.
On top of that, Gaza is collapsing from within due to the lack of security or police. Crazy people are roaming the streets, spreading terror and corruption among civilians. Theft, hoarding, bombardment, fear, a dead future, and the coming winter.
Please don’t stop talking about Gaza.

People wake UP don't believe Netanyahu AI bots they are real hateful and dangerous.. this is a devil in man's clothing.
Netanyahu: "I can penetrate this machine (a smartphone) and make you out to be a monster. And if I say it enough people believe it."
This is how he has infiltrated every aspect of our government. He manipulates, threatens, blackmails and intimidates until he gets his way.
And if that doesn't work, he send in the honeypots to trap the holdouts.
This man is a monster. He doesn't even try to hide it.

No, zionism is not 'extremely varied' in the Jewish community.
zionism is not a 'feeling' Jews have, it is a white supremacist settler-colonial movement founded by racist orientalists and maintained by white-supremacist colonial and settler-colonial powers and forces.

Colonialism wounded us for generations. I have relatives on the streets. Relatives in jail. Relatives we lost far too young.
But we are still here. And we are healing.
Today I’m praying the prayer I carry every day: I want to heal. I want to heal so badly it aches. I want our spirits to be free.
Oh God, let healing come.
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I wrote about grief, forgiveness, and the spirit they could not kill. Link to read here to Indigenous Insider🧡 🧡🧡
