My friends and I are working on a paper, highlighting the barriers to surgical care in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). It will shock anyone who has not practiced in a poor resource setting like Nigeria, what these barriers look like.

One of my absolute favorite things about the Lord’s Day and church, is the hymns.

“The Cross! it takes our guilt away, It holds the fainting spirit up; It cheers with hope the gloomy day & sweetens every bitter cup. It makes the coward spirit brave, and nerves the feeble arm for fight;
It takes its terror from the grave & gilds the bed of death with light.”

It’s actually crazy how you grow up thinking home-cooked meals every day are just normal, then get older and realise how much time and effort it took your Mom to make that happen and how lucky you were to have that.

Every time I see a clip of Rev. Dachuma, he is lamenting at the grave of his people. It really puts things in perspective for me in so many ways. What an example of perseverance in trials, and faithfulness in hardship! Jesu Saanu Wa.
EZEQUIEL DACHOMO! 🙏

found that the more I engage with the doctrines of grace, the more I learn to say, “whatever my God ordains us right.” P.S here’s a sobering related sermon I recommend x youtu.be/VmP3n77lCNk?is=lDnd…

He kills and makes alive. He wounds and He binds up. He ordains the good and the evil for His glory and our good. I often feel the need to preface or postscript these things with the honesty that I still struggle with reconciling suffering in the world & in my life, but I’ve

Some people find it easier to absolve God—so to say—by believing the devil ordains loss & pain, but if one were to properly sit with that thought, you would find absolutely no comfort in it. If the afflictions of our life were outside God’s prerogative, how hopeless we would be!
A good theology of suffering doesn’t just state that God is sovereign in pain and loss, but that God orders loss and pain for our good and for his glory. A good theology on suffering teaches Christian to say “Naked I came from my mother’s womb and naked shall I return…The Lord gives and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Shocked that many people are not aware of this. Henceforth, I'll be writing more on the atrocities happening in the North under this government that the media are not even reporting.
I still remember the pregnant woman who was kidnapped by bandits and gave birth to twins prematurely in captivity. The bandit leader threw her newborn twins to his dogs. As the helpless babies were being torn apart, he raped their mother, who was still bleeding from childbirth. Imagine the screams. Imagine the helplessness. Imagine a mother watching her babies d!e in the most horrifying way, unable to save them. A kind of horror no human being should ever have to witness. She couldn't bear it, she ran mad immediately. Whenever I remember that woman, a cold shiver runs through my body. Somewhere, a family is still living with the unbearable pain of what happened to their daughter and grandchildren. No amount of tears can bring those babies back. No apology can erase that nightmare from the husband. This happened late last year, under this administration. Yet, some people are already campaigning for the same APC to remain in power. How does a government explain a country where innocent citizens can be kidnapped, brutalised, dehumanized and murdered? Have we become so politically blinded that the suffering of our fellow citizens no longer moves us? Don't you feel it when people are subjected to such horrors that should only happen in zombie movies? Shouldn't their lives matter more than party loyalty? How many more mothers must we watch suffer? How many more children must d!e before the government treats our security as the emergency it is? Our lives don't matter to this government. I feel like the people supporting this government are more evil and demonic than the government.

Every single time I’ve had an eye test in Nigeria, I’ve been told I have glaucoma and twice started on medications. Only one optometrist modestly suggested I was rather at risk. Meanwhile, my fundoscopies/OCTs have been normal in the UK and the US. It’s a very curious thing.

There is NO flyover that is more important than having enough ambulances and emergency healthcare services in your state. NONE!

I truly cannot imagine life without my siblings. I always thank my mom on their birthdays for birthing some of my favorite humans. I can also attest to the fact that our closeness did not happen passively. Parents play such a vital role in how siblings relate to each other.
My siblings and I are really, really good friends. We love each other so much, and I don’t take it for granted. I know some of the credit goes to us, but I was curious about how much of it was intentional parenting. So I asked my mum if they were deliberate about anything 🧵

“Africa is a country”
Watch Uganda’s State Minister for Health, @HonAnifaKawooya, suspend a medical doctor for putting his hands in his pockets. Her degree is in Arts and Development Studies—not medicine—probably sourced from the dark web-yet she’s policing a doctor’s posture. Above is Dr Charles Best, whose work helped bring insulin to the world, standing the same way. The irony is staggering. @DrOtileUg, help us out here: can this godforsaken country ever change with characters like this in charge?

I found a hack for making really tasty protein packed overnight oats in 2019/2020. Unfortunately, I don’t remember my recipe anymore😔 Store bought protein oatmeal cups have been a great alternative. 8/10 recommend
Tried some overnight oats with protein powder, greek yogurt and berries. Not only is it healthy and packed with protein, it is disgusting.
