Credit, like fire, is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
to all the americhuds who still don't understand they're being taken advantage of somehow, the bank is praying every single day that your water heater breaks down and you get into a car crash on your way back from the hardware store where you got your $2 cashback from using your

There is this deranged "Anything young people are doing or saying leftishly must be wise and just" stance that absolutely melts my brain in its condescension. Basically the noble savage trope, but for The Youth.
Incredible clear-minded article on the French protests. (Translated from french for English readers) endnotes.org.uk/palabre/leav…

The youth are perfectly willing to tear down a system they think is flawed to replace it with something far worse.
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic. britannica.com/topic/Red-Guar… encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/art… aei.org/education/actu…

NY Post: Oregon school shooter "tried to enter through the school’s front door but was blocked by two bystanders, including a dad of two little girls at the school...The man opened fire on Griffin with a concealed weapon he was carrying, thwarting the teen’s attempt to go in the front, sources said. Refusing to give up, Griffin ran around to the school’s back door and blew off its lock — which was designed to prevent such tragedies, sources said. He entered the school and headed straight for his former special-needs classroom and opened fire, killing three students, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher, while also injuring a 7-year-old in a wheelchair and a 54-year-old teacher before being gunned down by the gun-toting dad who had spotted him out front." nypost.com/2026/10/16/us-new…

The photo sums up our current era in the sense that it and everything and everyone is fake.
If there’s one photo to sum up the Trump era, this is it.

Your face just just before you realize you're not in the last wave of revolutionaries.
Hadeeqa Arzoo Malik, a Pakistani-American Muslim activist who interned in Zohran Mamdani’s New York State Assembly office during summer 2024, previously sparked controversy after declaring that pro-Palestinian activism was “all jihad.” Malik, a former president of the Students for Justice in Palestine chapter at City College of New York, was also filmed confronting NYPD officers, calling them “pigs” and publicly berating a Muslim officer over his profession. On October 7 of this year, she protested Mamdani at a New York City vigil commemorating victims of the October 7 Hamas attacks, calling him a “traitor” and accusing him of betraying their movement.

No, Woke One was "bananas," bigot.
#REPORT: Chrystia Freeland's new book claims that "crying was routine at cabinet meetings" under Justin Trudeau's leadership, and that the former prime minister would be driven into fits of rage when colleagues would use non-woke words like "crazy" instead of "bananas."

Why does it feel like I'm the only one not having wacky adventures?
Divorced parents stayed together to give their "aspiring star" kids a chance to make it big. A state court judge ordered the kids to go with the mom. The kids refused to leave with her. The judge got frustrated and locked them up. They sued. No judicial immunity, per Judge Stras

It's a classic "Republicans pounce." Ignore the story that's inconvenient for your side until you can criticize the other side's reaction to the story.
It shouldn’t take a fake story about him disappearing to spur journalists to wonder why an otherwise healthy young man actually did disappear for *more days than I’ve been out of commission for childbirth* when he should be working harder than he’s ever worked in his entire life. Off the trail for 9+ days in October is a story. Aren’t y’all who support him the least bit annoyed he’s not mustering some Zoom calls during convalescence? This also sets up a pretty perverse incentive where making up stories about a story that should have already been covered gets you both clicks and the story covered in the NYT! I hate being gaslit by both the mainstream and the people with the fake recording on this.
