I appreciate you making it to the end. If you want to learn about how to live longer, healthier and with more energy, give me a follow. More content just like this coming out every day.
Dr. Ishwar Gilada says if he had to choose between well-treated HIV and diabetes, he would choose HIV. That sounds insane until you hear his reasoning. Modern HIV treatment can suppress the virus to undetectable levels. A treated patient can: - Live a normal lifespan - Have a normal sex life - Have HIV-negative children - Avoid HIV-related hospitalization Diabetes is different. Gilada points to the risk of silent heart attacks, complications affecting the brain and heart, gangrene, amputations, and other long-term problems. His point is not that HIV is harmless. It is that medicine has changed HIV so dramatically that the stigma surrounding it may now be worse than the day-to-day medical reality for many treated patients. People still hear “HIV” and think death sentence. Gilada says that picture is decades out of date. With treatment, he describes it as a manageable chronic condition. — Dr. Ishwar Gilada (@drgilada) on The J Report

A med student asked: “Sir, if sharing an infected needle or blade can transmit HIV, can a mosquito transmit the virus after biting an HIV positive patient? The answer might surprise you.

Dr. Ishwar Gilada says one of the biggest things people still get wrong about HIV is believing an HIV-positive person will always be able to transmit the virus. Modern treatment can completely change that. Once a person takes antiretroviral therapy and their viral load becomes undetectable, Gilada says: Undetectable = untransmittable. That means an HIV-positive person on effective treatment can have an HIV-negative partner and not sexually transmit the virus to them. Gilada says he has counseled couples where one partner is positive and the other is negative. They get married. They have normal relationships. And the negative partner stays negative. The public image of HIV is still heavily shaped by what the disease looked like decades ago. But treatment changed the equation. The virus may still be present. The ability to pass it on sexually can effectively disappear when viral suppression is maintained. That is one of the biggest shifts in modern HIV medicine. — Dr. Ishwar Gilada (@drgilada) on The J Report

“A special concern about measles is IMMUNE AMNESIA - its ability to make our immune system "forget" prior pathogens. This means the child will remain susceptible to certain infections which it had previously gained immunity against”. @drgilada & I discuss with @snehamordani @ndtv

Just perfect and humanitarian!
Cancer drugs get cheaper, but will bills fall? Government caps trade margins on cancer drugs at 30%; price cap expected to cover 100 cancer medicines. Policy could save patients Rs 2500 crore annually, but lower medicine prices do not guarantee lower hospital bills @JyotsnaKumar13 has more

Perhaps the most moving tribute to Captain Machchhar comes from an Israeli, honouring an Indian captain who drew strength from chanting the most powerful words of all.

A death with confirmed #plague is far better than an unconfirmed cause of #pneumonia, as it gets surrounded by mystery and leads to several speculations!
The WHO has issued an updated statement on the reported Russian Plague highlighting uncertainty surrounding a laboratory worker’s death and the need for further investigation. 🦠 Cause of death unconfirmed: The worker died of pneumonia of undetermined etiology.

🦠 Plague not confirmed: Tests reportedly did not detect plague or other tested high-threat pathogens.

🦠 Laboratory exposure not ruled out: A possible occupational exposure remains under investigation.

🦠 No ongoing transmission identified: WHO has found no evidence of continued transmission linked to the event.

🦠 Risk assessment remains limited: The absence of a confirmed diagnosis leaves key uncertainties.

🦠 Further investigation needed: Additional laboratory testing and epidemiological evidence are required.

🦠 No travel or trade restrictions: WHO does not recommend restrictions related to this event.

🦠 WHO monitoring continues: The assessment may be updated as new evidence emerges.

🦠 Cause of death: Classified as pneumonia of undetermined etiology. 🦠 Lab exposure possible: A laboratory-associated exposure cannot be fully ruled out because the deceased worked at an institution handling high-consequence pathogens. 🦠 Further investigation needed: Additional clinical, epidemiological and laboratory testing is required to identify the causative agent. 🦠 No ongoing transmission identified: WHO has not found evidence of ongoing transmission associated with this event. 🦠 Risk assessment remains uncertain: The absence of a confirmed diagnosis limits confidence in the assessment, including whether contact monitoring was sufficient 🦠 WHO urges timely reporting: Member States are encouraged to communicate event-related information promptly through the International Health Regulations (IHR) framework.

This is horrible! People will loose faith in the system.
State of regulation in healthcare! To test the nursing registration system in Madhya Pradesh they managed to register a donkey as a nurse who had completed BSc Nursing from Bhopal Nursing College by July 2025🤣🤣 And the system actually issued the certificate with no checks😱😱😱

On AI2852 (BLR–BOM,26 Sept), I asked @AirIndiaX #pilot seated next to me:“We often hear calls for doctor for in-flight emergency. Do you ever hear call for pilot?” She said, never! Here, the role of a pilot-passenger is truly remarkable—potentially far greater than that of dr. ✈️
