I was naive to think the sign did not need to be tapped as loudly and as often, but here we are:
Requiring approved accommodations is basically saying you think disabled people should have to jump through BS flaming hoops for just the *chance* of having an equitable experience.

Colleagues who’ve been going to & giving conference papers celebrating the “subversive” for years but are now obsessed w/ policing on behalf of an institution w/ interests quite different than those most of our colleagues claim. It’s wild to watch
Many moons ago, I wrote mixed-methodology diss titled *Ideologies of Response in Composition Classrooms.”
Were I still doing response scholarship & were I not very tired, I might do same project again except w/specific focus on student AI use in response production & reception.
Does the student have the authorial standing to write about their *own* ideas?
The one’s who wrote their own ideas will have that control or an attempt at that control will be evident in their writing.
Hell, the one’s fully using AI may have not even read what they submitted.
If you really want to “catch” students who are fully using AI to write papers, have them write about what they wrote about in class after turning the paper in. And I don’t mean reflection. Easily BS’d. I mean “write a detailed, specific summary of your paper.”
You can police students into performing learning. But you can’t police anyone into learning. So if the performance makes you feel like you are winning the war you are waging, so be it.

I guess I just would prefer to live in a world where billionaires pay a wealth tax so that our infrastructure like roads and bridges aren't liable to collapsing underneath us as we're driving over them, requiring cars to hover. But maybe that's just me!!!

The last time the Milwaukee Brewers were in the World Series you could get 12 8-track tapes for only a dollar through The Gorman Thomas Tape Club®.
I love when people get really angry at capitalism only when the fairly exclusive purchase becomes even more exclusive.
I mean, can you believe people will raise the price even higher because there are people who will pay? It’s outrageous!
