It’s incredible how consistently the ideologically captured are incapable of understanding per capita.

A map of the active natural gas wells (Aug-Oct production), with the NASA heat maps superimposed.
The fire at CFB Wainwright was NOWHERE NEAR an active gas wells or pipelines. The wind direction suggests the fire started on range around the dry pond labeled "6602" and raged to the NEE towards infrastructure.
The largest producer was at 50 mcf/d .... very low rate. And its operator (Sumerian Oil & Gas) was ordered by the AER to suspend operation on October 5th, but was planning on appealing the decision the day of the incident.
This story will be told in inquiry by the RSO responsible for this operation, as the winds howled to >100 km/h ....

I’ll do something longer later today, but for the Wainwright tragedy:
1. Grass fires on prairie live fire ranges are a known hazard (see the video below for what they look like)
2. It’s very unlikely it had anything to do with natural gas pipelines. The NASA satellites have the fires in a different area (but the fire did rip through the base’s ammo storage bunkers).
3. The winds when it happened a were gusting very fast. So if a grass fire started it wpupd have moved faster than people can run.
Please continue to pray. Fatalities from burn related mass casualties have a tendency to increase as infections set in.
Response to a Californian pointing out thier flag features a type of bear they hunted to extinction.
Replying to @trideepgogoi
As a Canadian I admire you for choosing an official animal that you ruthlessly exploited (in your case to extinction but there’s too many beavers to wipe them out).
I’m now on a State vs Provincial flag rabbit hole.
The oddest discovery: most Provincial flags feature British ethnic symbols, but for State flags it’s just:
- Alabama and Florida, both of which were British colonies for only 20 years; and
- Hawaii, which was never British
Bit of a question for my American friends:
Aside from government buildings and special cases like Texas, how often do you see State flags IRl?
In most provinces you see the National vs Provincial flag on about a 4:1 ratio. My sense is it’s a lot less prevalent in the US.
Laughs in having talked to guys who fought ISIS.
They collapsed every time they came into contact with halfway decently trained and motivated soldiers.
The rise of ISIS only really says something about the Iraqi Army.
Two months ago I caused a bit of a shit-Storm by saying most writers don’t know how to portray power; often portraying the most powerful person in the room as the loudest and most assertive.
Do you want an example of how to properly portray a powerful man? xitter.cf/TheCinesthetic/status/…
Script writers please take note: In 16 years as an officer I shouted angrily 3x. The first 2 were in my first year and I quickly learned it was a mistake.
Authority is established through conduct, deportment and reinforcement by NCOs. If you need to say you’re in charge; you aren’t (parents take note).
Beyond the obvious point the Jeremy Irons is amazing:
1. Before he enters a senior underling warns everyone they aren’t smart enough to fool him, so just be frank and honest. Then he comes in and plays the folksy wisdom card.
2. He controls the conversation by asking insiteful questions, but doesn’t give his opinion until after the analyst is done reporting.
3. Once he commits to a position he bulldozes through objections.
4. At the end they report they’ve been unable to find a guy, despite trying all day. He turns to one of his underlings and orders them to have the guy brought to him within the next 2 hours. The underling says he will make it happen. Then he leaves the room.
It’s a masterclass in exuding authority.
This tread is painful.
About a dozen USG accounts posting what very clearly foriegn or AI warships.
Guys, it’s really not that hard to find photos is USN warships.
Happy Thanks Giving All!

It’s surreal how much I dance similar to this guy.
Is dancing awkwardly genetic?
It’s interesting to see how many of my co-ethnics:
1. Assumed I’m an American who’s racist against French-Canadians; and
2. Assumed ‘Pirate French’ was a bad thing.
Quebecois French is approximately the social and cultural equivalent to pirate talk (as in yarrr!) in English: a preserved 400 year old dialect from seafaring villages.
Our concept of pirate talk comes from Robert Newton playing Long John Silver with an exaggerated west country accent, so pirate French is a good analogy.
