Am I still tinkering with this? Yes, I am. It's fun to jump back to this every so often. I might call it soon. I'm taking time and enjoying the process instead of rushing through it. More animations, tweaked lighting, and a game screen that moves. #3dart

I think what disgusts me most about this sort of thing is the affect of an actual painting. All those “brushstrokes” suggest effort, prolonged hours of concentration, a skill set. But there’s none of that here. Pure poseur bullshit

For the last 15 years, I've been building tools for Maya.
About 12 years ago, I started rethinking Maya from the ground up and wrote a plan to reinvent every tool. The original dream was a single, all-in-one product that would change everything, and I spent years working toward exactly that.
But a product that ambitious was always years away. So rather than make you wait, or just release small products, I decided to release it the way it should have been all along: as a series of focused tools, each one reinventing a different part of Maya.
This is the first: a sculpting toolset that brings powerful, GPU-based modern sculpting right inside Maya, no round-tripping to another app, no breaking your workflow.
And this is just the beginning!

A friend told me once that when someone asks what you do, you should tell them a hobby, not your job. Post-Gamescom, I’m trying to be a bit more present in my own life. Starting with a much-needed trip with family.
So awesome reading that so many people enjoyed seeing #GuildWars3 at gamescom, there is so much more to come! Proud of this team and what we are making.
Guild Wars 3's approach to combat and movement is like nothing I've ever seen in an MMO before pcgamer.com/games/mmo/guild-…
Love seeing a local studio come out SWINGING with their first game! I'm def gonna play

We need each other more than ever now. As devs in this community, be there for one another. Its easy to get bitter; don't. Channel those feelings into creation and connection. Reach out, or just listen; it matters. Hope you all are well; we will get through it.
I Gotta back to doing personal work again. I got a lot to say but I think I need to let the art do the talking.
Ask me 3 years ago what this industry will look like in 2030 and I'd give you a really confident and probably wrong answer. Now? I don't think anyone really can predict anymore and anyone who says they can is absolutely wrong, full stop.
I rarely post on here but things are kind of crazy right now, huh? This industry can really take it out of you.
I've noticed like a growing pressure among other devs and friends to make sure everything lands on the first try. Idk if it's self-imposed or because of the state of the industry and AI, it feels like there's less room to experiment. And I think that's one of the most damaging things that can happen to the creative process.
One of the best parts of being creative is that the process is built on failure. You try something, it doesn't work, you learn, and you try again. Failing fast isn't bad, but it's how great ideas are discovered, and it's fun!
As chaotic as this industry is, don't lose your sense of wonder. Experiment, fail, try weird ideas. Make things that surprise you. Do the thing the computer can't: be human, be messy. If we lose that, then what was this all for?
Idk, just what's on my mind. Maybe that makes sense to some of you.
Hard month for game devs. I just don't really have the words. I usually write to hang in there, and keep your chin up, but... it gets harder and harder to say.
I don't know if things are going to "improve" but I do think things will stabalize. It will just be different.
Well at least the studios made independent have a chance, idk whose funding large things like that in this environment but anything is better than a closure. These layoffs are just... Brutal. For those hit, hang in there.
There is an incredible amount of uncertainty in this industry, and it can really be draining on motivation. You gotta give yourself grace and time to react, time to feel.
Not a bad way to start, can't wait for you to see the full thing
