There are a few replies to this that are like, “duh, just visit the website and you’ll understand DSA” and…I get it, but I think that kind of response sort of helps prove Ta-Nehisi’s point.

It is really chilling to see how quickly Black, Caribbean, and African writers and academics have become the global face of AI use and plagiarism.
For such a serious charge, @vauhinivara's article rests on...a Pangram scan. No comment from the African writer in question.

In the second year of my MFA in Iowa, an essay of mine got a Notable Entry in Best American Essays. Someone in my program emailed me asking which essay, asked for a copy and went to a party to rip the essay apart. he rubbished the essay to everyone.
they are a SICK bunch

ask anyone who has been through any creative writing MFA or MA and they will tell you, these suspicions are not new. a regular jack in your class who cannot write shit will call your writing useless because he doesn't understand it, and that's on the days when they're being nice.

The Atlantic has never acknowledged the Caine Prize before. Now, when an opportunity to vilify and discredit a black/African writer presents itself, suddenly they care about the prize.
It is scary, the world we live in now.

marketing was historically run by people active in culture: girls, gays, and creative straight dudes.
now AI is making technical, masculine-coded fields obsolete, so marketing gets rebranded as “growth” to push the girls and weirdos out.
but you can’t push out culture and win.
Replying to @_johnsonator
seeing the name also get rebranded and masculinized feels like it’s creating a certain kind of divisiveness in the function. almost like they have to avoid being associated with those who have built this domain from its roots.

Many Black Americans still labor under an enduring myth that histories of their distant ancestors are unknowable, lost to the grinding void of slavery. Glimmers of these Antebellum histories do exist. But not in the census. They're in the property records. scalawagmagazine.org/2026/05…
