I suspect these Israeli apologists are struggling to balance the perpetual victimhood they’ve assigned themselves with the observable reality their government is committing war crimes at historically horrifying scale.
I cannot peer into @daverich1's mind or soul.
I do not know whether he has simply avoided reading the overwhelming evidence, fearful that it might let a crack of doubt appear.
After all who, we might ask, knowingly demonises those opposed to heinous crimes against children.

Doesn't fit the ex-muslim narrative, but it's what it is.
It’s less about the moral difficulties, which I suspect you rarely experience, it’s about that killing people for killing people is inherently stupid; it doesn’t bring anyone back; it doesn’t deter crime; and I’m not a big fan of the government executing people as a rule.

I don’t get this thinking. Starmer was getting slaughtered because he simply doesn’t connect with the average member of the public.
Rocky is a better movie than T2. T1 and T2 are two of the greatest SF-action movies ever, but they aren’t in the same universe as Rocky. Which is why the BFI and AFI have Rocky in their top 100 and none of the Terminator films.
I like Sly, but a lot of his prime was spent on truly bad movies, and most of his post prime too, often driven by his ego and need to be in control. Even he admits that.
But Rocky, Rocky 3, Balboa, Copland, First Blood, Demolition Man, Nighthawks, and Creed/2 are excellent.
