Best of luck to The Revd Lisa Coupland, a @churchofengland priest from Cornwall, competing on #TheTraitors! 🤫 When asked what she'd spend the prize money on if she won, Lisa said: "In my own parish church, we have an old vestry. We want to convert it into a community place, so we can have lunches for people who have been widowed, who are bereaved and want to come together. 📸 Photo credit: BBC Media Centre

I love this!
"I Sit Beside the Fire and Think" is perhaps my favorite poem by #Tolkien to welcome the New Year. As the aging Bilbo sang it, he gave it a contemplative air; recalling past events in sorrow and anticipating returning loved ones. Love the use of seasons to mark passing times.

Ditto and Amen! Brilliantly expressed @RevThomasSander
To all clergy, churchwardens, sidespersons, musicians, welcomers…anyone on a rota. Good luck, God bless, be encouraged in what you do and who you are doing it for. Happy Christmas 🎄 ✝️

Still amazed that this happened but also glad to be on my way home for Christmas
Amazing to be present for @malcolmguite reading to a sell out crowd in the SSE Arena in Belfast as part of the Christmas event by @gettymusic. Could this be largest number of people in Belfast to ever collectively listen to a poetry reading live?

That’s a sharp observation! Thank you.
In the city you tend to consider people outside the church unless they opt in; in rural I note that people can be considered part of the church unless they opt out. There is not really a divide between church and village.

Repentance is not seen in tears; it is not seen in words; it is not seen in emotion. Repentance is long, slow, consistent change over an extended period of time because it is from the heart outward. Heart change is supernatural work.

So encouraging from @stgilesfields
Over the past year Evensong has grown in number. We enjoy good music, thoughtful preaching and a welcoming poet-service fellowship. 🎶📖🍻 Wherever you hail from, you are welcome here. Evensong | 6.30pm | St. Giles in the Fields This Sunday with a guest preacher: Rev S Labran

Great job. Great diocese!
We need somebody brilliant for this role; working knowledge of @RootAndrew would obviously be a significant strength... (Yes that is me in the picture being ordained by Bishop Martin)

Amen.
Holiness is not hardness, but choosing to be tender, with eyes wide open. It’s goodness without naïveté.
