Managed Long Term Care (MLTCs) pockets billions in profits meant for home care - enough to fund #FairPay4HomeCare. Meanwhile, they are turning the lives of New Yorkers with disabilities like Gemma upside down.

ALT "My managed long-term care plan wanted to cut my home care hours from 12 hours a day to 4 hours a day. I had to appeal twice before I was given 9 hours a day and that still was not enough. MLTCs are turning the lives of older adults, people with disabilities and family caregivers upside down. This needs to stop in next year's state budget. If you need an argument for hiring disabled journalists, @AmandaMoMorris, who is hard of hearing and a #CODA, wrote this gut-wrenching profile of how the deaf community in Lewiston is reeling after the shooting this week.

So excited to hear @Imani_Barbarin at the @NYAIL statewide conference. Her message was spot on.

Sadly, I have seen baggage handlers do this with my chair too. Good luck getting it resolved and fixed quickly!
For the first time ever, I actually witnessed @AmericanAir destroy my wheelchair in real time. It was improperly loaded on the baggage belt and flipped off onto the pavement. Sadly, I don’t have video but do have this photo. They weren’t going to say a single word to me about it.
Just learned that @Imani_Barbarin is going to be speaking at the @NYAIL conference this fall. So excited to meet her at this event!

"Wanna race?
Don't run me over!
Watch out for the wheelchair lady!
Do you have a license for that thing?"
Still, I am proud.
Thank you closed captioning! Now I know what Michael Arden said on the #Tonys. He's the "f**** with the Tony!"

Rest in Power Sally Johnston! There are so many reasons we named our advocacy award for Sally. She was a fierce advocate who spent her life fighting not only for #FairPay4HomeCare & CDPA but for the Disability Community & the right of disabled ppl to be supported in the community
Excited to spend my lunch listening to @DrKaraAyers talking about dismantling ableism. Starting right off with language!

.@GovKathyHochul The NY Times is reporting what we have been telling you for years - we are facing a massive Home Care shortage due to the lack of #FairPay4HomeCare - don’t betray us in this year’s budget by going back on the baby step forward you took last year
Denise DiNoto retweeted
.@AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie like us last year you took @GovKathyHochul at her word that the $3 raise was a start. She can clearly no longer be taken at her word as she tries turn home care back into a minimum wage job. Please keep her from taking us backwards! #FairPay4HomeCare

This chart clearly shows that the deal @GovKathyHochul is proposing @CarlHeastie & @AndreaSCousins bring to their conference on home care will cut wages for home care workers from what they were expecting.
Conferences need to send a resounding "NO"

The home care package in @GovKathyHochul budget was leaked. She reverses herself on campaign promises! She caps wage increases at $3 over min wage, not a baseline. She takes away some of wage parity, postpones increases & avoids acctablility. Tell @carlheastie . Not ok. Push back

Hi @CarlHeastie and @AndreaSCousins . The @CaringMajority is behind you as you fight for #FairPay4HomeCare in the NYS budget. We have your back. We need you to keep holding the line for the millions of NYers depending on this. Thank you!

Why I fight for #FairPayforHomeCare! medium.com/@elisabethdubois/…
It's about dignity and respect, and the right to live in my own home in my community. But without home care workers, I can't do that. medium.com/@elisabethdubois/…
