What a great atmosphere at the Aim High Festival in Higham Ferrers today. A free community event organised by Ailsa’s Aim, bringing people together for a wonderful weekend of music, performances, stalls and activities; while raising awareness and funds for a charity doing some truly important work. 💚 If you haven’t already, do pop down - there’s plenty going on and lots to see and do until 8pm! My thanks to everyone at Ailsa’s Aim for the work they do supporting people through cancer treatment, as well as parents and families with babies receiving neonatal care and offering practical support at times when people need it most. I was also really interested to hear about the charity’s work across beyond Northamptonshire, supporting families wherever they may be receiving treatment. When someone is already going through a difficult time, having support available wherever they are can gives families the reassurance of knowing that support is there, wherever they are being treated. It was fantastic to spend some time at the Rushden Classic Car Show last Sunday. Hall Park was packed with an incredible collection of classic cars and bikes, as well as local businesses, live music and plenty of families enjoying the day. Congratulations to the organisers and volunteers for putting on another brilliant community event, and thank you to everyone who came along to make it such a success.

Wellingborough was out in force for Carnival day yesterday, with families lining the streets and Party in the Park continuing the celebrations into the afternoon and today. It is a tradition of our local community and nice to see so many people enjoying the day. It was a pleasure to be part of it. From the Parade route to Party in the Park, it was wonderful to meet and speak with so many people throughout the day and see Wellingborough at its summer best. Thank you to #Wellingborough Town Council, the sponsors and volunteers for organising another great event, and to Simon and the Mustang owners for helping to put on a great display.

☀️With the summer sun still shining and the recent heat at last relenting, members and friends came together for a relaxed and enjoyable Association Lunch. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the afternoon and to all those whose presence and good company made for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. The lunch also gave us cause to celebrate a number of birthdays among our members, and we extend our warmest wishes to all those celebrating. 🎂 We were also pleased to take the opportunity to congratulate Tim Allebone on his appointment as an Honorary Alderman, an honour bestowed in recognition of his eminent public service, including 22 years as a councillor on the Borough Council of Wellingborough and for North Northamptonshire Council. 👏

While the heat meant the parade in #Rushden could not go ahead, it was great to still support the stalls and local businesses marking #ArmedForcesDay 2026. As in previous years it was both a pleasure and important to continue showing support for our Armed Forces community. 🇬🇧 A moment to recognise and thank all those who serve, and those who have served, for their dedication, sacrifice and commitment to our country.

🚗 Save Free Car Parking 🚗 Residents made their views clear during North Northamptonshire’s Council parking consultation last year: Keep Parking Free in Wellingborough and Rushden. Months later, Reform-led NNC still refuses to rule out parking charges. At a time when our town centres are already under pressure and we continue to see shops closing on our High Streets, we question why parking charges are even being considered. We all want to see our town centres improve and thrive and so regeneration should encourage people back into our towns, not make it more difficult and expensive to visit them. Many residents are rightly concerned about the impact new charges could have on local businesses, accessibility and surrounding residential streets. That’s why we’ve launched this petition calling on Reform-led NNC to rule out parking charges and protect free parking in our towns.
