Anthropic, with the help of Claude, spent five months building a replacement for Git, while Linus Torvalds built Git single-handedly in just 10 days.

Tramuntana is a way of giving hands to AI to allow it to debug embedded systems. Soon on GitHub.

“We had to find a way and we did. Looking back, we were the luckiest people in the world; there was no choice but to be pioneers.” —Margaret Hamilton Rest in peace, Margaret. Your trailblazing work leading the development of the on-board flight software for the Apollo spacecraft will forever be remembered. 🫡

This night is about #tramuntana. The goal is to have a tool that acts as hands for AI debugging.

The report does not look at the functionality of the module but to the implementation of it. It is done by yosys not by AI but yes, it can be an improvement.

Actually SPIDriver was one of my inspirations for Tramuntana together with I2CDriver. Next week all the design (electronical + fw + sw + mechanical) will be released!

I agree, and use your data for training does not mean the model you return your data and your context, but it is a requirement for some projects. The cost is probably the most important, especially for small and medium companies, and my point is to use the local AI for repetitive and structured tasks, like CI CD pipelines.

Everybody is using AI and sharing their RTL modules with Anthropic, OpenAI, or Alibaba; in my case, for confidential information such as code or personal finances, I use local AI models. In this article, I share with you my local AI inference setup for FPGA development. Check it out! controlpaths.com/2026/09/27/…
