⭕️ NEW: Instagram Removes Comra Wire With No Appeal Comra Wire, a left-wing alternative media outlet that maintains reporters and sources in Palestine, Lebanon, China, and Cuba, said Instagram removed its page of nearly 150,000 followers with no mechanism to contest the takedown. The outlet said tens of millions of monthly viewers have been cut off, and described the removal as part of “an escalating pattern of information warfare by big tech monopolies, deeply intertwined with the ruling elite” — and a broader rise in censorship of alternative media directed from Washington and Brussels. The takedown comes amid documented widening of social media censorship tied to coverage of Gaza and the Iran war. Comra Wire is directing followers to its Telegram channel @ comrawire.

Are Israeli forces really advancing their occupation in southern Lebanon? [comra]'s Abrar reports from Tyre on the reality on the ground as Israeli bombings and attempts to invade and isolate southern Lebanon from the rest of the country continue to fail. Israel's strategy aims to isolate villages in the south by surrounding them and cutting off routes of communication and movement through the bombing of civilian infrastructure and continuous displacement orders. But every attempted invasion ends in ambushes or retreat. Watch [comra]'s report from Lebanon to learn more.

Lebanese journalists continue to report from the ground despite Israeli threats and the repeated targeting of press workers. Following the assassination of journalists Ali Shoeib, Fatima Ftouni, and Mohammad Ftouni while on assignment, [comra] spoke with Lebanese journalist Hasan Atieh about the situation on the ground. "We will keep fighting the Israeli occupation with our voices and our cameras," Atieh said, adding that this was "the will of Fatima, Ali, and all the journalists killed by Israeli attacks." Israeli forces have been held responsible for two-thirds of all press killings recorded in 2024 and 2025 — more targeted killings of journalists than any other military since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began tracking such deaths. According to the CPJ, over 256 journalists and media workers have been killed by Israeli forces in the region since October 2023.

Est-ce que la France et ses petits toutous vont tenter d’entrer au Niger ? J’analyse le cas pour @comrawire 👇🏾
Is France preparing a military coup in Niger? Former French military intelligence chief Christophe Gomart pushed a European Parliament resolution demanding an emergency intervention to free ousted Nigerien president Mohamed Bazoum before April 2nd. Seven days later, France, Benin and Ivory Coast held a high-level military summit in Cotonou. Since the 2023 coups across Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, Western multinationals have watched their uranium, gold and oil profits in the region collapse. @Ekilaaa breaks down how far France will go to keep its grip on Africa.

I had the honor to interview Dr. Nina Farnia for Comrawire earlier this month, where we discussed what the Ramadan War means for transformations in US imperialist strategy, internal logics of the resistance, and third world approaches to sovereignty and self-determination.
[ INTERVIEW ] The war on Iran is not a regional conflict. It is the frontline of a global reckoning. We sat down with legal historian Dr. Nina Farnia to discuss Iran's resilience under decades of sanctions and hybrid war. ⚪️ READ HERE: comrawire.com

Museveni vient de prendre la présidence de l’EAC. Le rôle de son régime sanguinaire dans le génocide des Congolais, on en parle ? Je suis intervenue sur le sujet dans cette chronique du média @comrawire 👇🏾
What if the massacres in eastern Congo are tied to the global supply chains behind your coffee and chocolate? In the regions of Beni and Ituri, some of the deadliest massacres in DR Congo have unfolded over the past decade, in territories rich in cocoa, coffee, timber, and gold. Among the armed groups operating in these areas is the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a militia of Ugandan origin that has pledged allegiance to the Da*sh. The group has repeatedly targeted farmers and rural communities, killing civilians, burning homes, and abducting residents. Yet these same territories are deeply embedded in global commodity markets. Cocoa, coffee, timber, and gold extracted in eastern Congo enter international supply chains through complex export networks and intermediary companies linked to foreign firms and Western financial markets, while the headquarters of major multinational operators in the region remain largely untouched. Watch as [comra]'s Congolese journalist and pan-Africanist activist @Ekilaaa explains the dynamics behind the violence and the network of actors operating across eastern DR Congo.

One-year-old Mohammed Bassiouni died of exposure to the cold on Tuesday. It was his first birthday. That night, as winter storms lashed Gaza with cold winds and torrential rain, his family was shivering in a battered tent in Deir al-Balah where they had been displaced after fleeing Beit Lahia in northern Gaza “It was a night of rain and wind. We were up all night, his mother and I,” Mohammed’s father, Maher Bassiouni, told Drop Site. “At 4 a.m., the wind and rain calmed a little and me and his mother slept a bit. I woke up at 6 a.m. and I found the boy dead.” He spoke holding his son’s lifeless body wrapped in a purple blanket. “We belong to God and to him we shall return. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs. I have nothing more to tell you. He is one year old. Today is his birthday. January 13th is his birthday, the day he died.” Mohammed is the seventh child to die from hypothermia since the onset of winter, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, including four since the beginning of the year—among them a baby just seven days old and a four-year-old girl. Another 25 Palestinians have been crushed to death as storms caused damaged buildings and walls to collapse on families seeking shelter inside or in tents nearby. Israel’s continued strangulation of essential supplies during winter has left hundreds of thousands of Palestinians shivering in the wet and cold and nearly three dozen dead. Read the full Drop Site report from Abdel Qader Sabbah and Sharif Kouddous, with videos from @AbdSabbah91 in Gaza. Our story is linked in reply. 🎥 Interviews below from @comrawire:
Gaza’s Civil Defense has warned of catastrophic repercussions as a new winter storm hits the enclave, while Israel deliberately continues to block shelter materials. [comra] reporters in Gaza have documented the despair of Palestinians with nowhere safe to take cover.

Today the COP30 climate conference in Brazil witnessed large-scale protests organized by Indigenous peoples both inside and outside the conference venue. The protesters voiced their opposition to international climate policies that marginalize their rights and lands. They argue that their representation in these conferences is often merely symbolic, with little real influence over environmental and climate decision-making, despite being the traditional guardians of the rainforest and among the most affected by climate change. The Indigenous population in Brazil is estimated at around 900,000 people, spread across more than 300 ethnic and linguistic groups, most of whom live in the Amazon region. This region accounts for over half of Brazil's rainforest and is one of the most important ecosystems in the world. These communities play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and protecting forests from deforestation, which is often driven by mining projects, commercial agriculture, and logging companies. The protesters demand that Indigenous peoples be granted genuine legal and political rights in environmental decision-making, emphasizing that their lands are not commodities to be sold or financial instruments like carbon credits. They strongly criticize so-called carbon markets and environmental governance funds, which are often used as a cover by multinational corporations to continue exploiting natural resources under the guise of environmental protection, without respecting local communities and their rights. At the same time, several African countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya, and South Africa, have seen widespread protests against carbon markets. These markets grant enormous privileges to multinational corporations to take control of local lands and increase demand for natural resources such as cobalt used in electric car batteries, a sector that often relies on child labor and resource exploitation in conflict zones. The protesters also criticize greenwashing, the practice by which companies use tools such as carbon offsets, green investments, and environmental and social governance funds to market themselves as sustainable and ethical, while continuing to exploit cheap labor and pollute the environment without accountability. Protests in Brazil and Africa represent a single face of green capitalism, a system that reproduces the logic of old colonialism: the Global South bears the greatest burden of climate change and the responsibility to protect the planet, while the wealthy Global North continues to pollute and profit.

Iskra Books author Torkil Lauesen was interviewed by @comrawire. "Revolutionary anti-imperialism can be resurrected in the years to come, as the intensity of class struggle around the world once again calls for radical alternatives. At a time when US hegemony is in decline and global power relations are complex, we will see unexpected and rapidly shifting conditions for the struggle. We must prepare for such events by developing a new strategy for the liberation of Palestine."
[ EXCLUSIVE ] We spoke with veteran anti-imperialist Torkil Lauesen on the shifting global order, the rebirth of resistance, and the meaning of October 7 for global anti-imperialism today. ⚪️ READ HERE: comrawire.substack.com/p/res…
