I wrote about this earlier this spring: WI’s choice programs have been leaders in financial accountability; we should do the same on academic outcomes — not as a cudgel, but to ensure ALL students get the education they deserve. cfcmke.substack.com/p/part-2…

This is unfortunate from @govevers - the regs make clear public school students can benefit, and include provisions making it easier for schools in low-income areas to access funding. WI students & schools - ALL of them - could benefit from opting in.

Thanks @CharlesBarone, both for lifting up our work @cfc_mke, and for making the point that @DavidCCrowley's comeback win was powered at least in part by pro-school choice Dems. charliebaroneedu.substack.co…

National narratives from special interest groups just don’t match the lived reality of MKE’s students & families. And, Madison politicians need to recognize that in MKE, voters are tired of the sector wars and done with divisive “end vouchers” rhetoric. cfcmke.substack.com/p/part-2…

And, our polling with our advocacy partner @cfcactionfund this spring showed it: the large pack of undecided, late-breaking Dems were +32 for a pro-school choice candidate. Eliminating the voucher program is a political loser, especially in MKE. cfcmke.substack.com/p/the-fa…

Had the best team accompanying me to cast my ballot this morning! A reminder, WI - go vote! And if you’re still not sure where candidates stand on K12 issues, we’ve got you @cfcactionfund. Find our full guide at cfcactionfund.org/where-they…

3b/ Parental Choice program schools perform better on average, as both we @cfc_mke & @WillFlandersWI have pointed out in recent work - but there’s still A LOT more work to be done.

I wrote about this history earlier this year in the @cfc_mke Corner. Not only is her position bad policy and bad politics — it’s rooted in bad history, and defends a status quo that’s failed Black and Hispanic students for decades open.substack.com/pub/cfcmke…

I shared in the most recent @cfc_mke Corner last week why this misguided idea is bad politics — and even worse policy. There’s no responsible way to end school choice. But this might be the most irresponsible & unworkable proposal yet. open.substack.com/pub/cfcmke…

Notable shift from @FrancescaHongWI: now, she’ll phase out the MKE voucher program by 2030 — or before K students starting school this month even complete ES! Her plan: send 30k more kids to @MilwaukeeMPS, right as the district hits a $420M+ fiscal cliff youtu.be/oRA9yLCQOAs?t=4113&…
