You use police services EVERY HOUR of your life. Everyone does. If the police didn't exist, life would be hell. No different from the USS Ronald Reagan. The fact that *you* don't see an aircraft carrier every day doesn't mean it's not scaring the shit out of would-be enemies.
Funny how people think this reply is clever. How many times has the average person used police and fire in the last five years? What would the dollar value of regular security patrols and on call services? Would roads exist without taxes as they have for all of human history? How would snow plowing work? What is the cost of schools? If people actually itemized and paid for what they actually used it would be a tiny fraction of what most people pay in taxes.

I’m young. I don’t need to go to the doctor regularly. Why would I pay Medicare tax?
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…

I used to be a Libertarian. Then I realized that every single Libertarian health care policy variant boils down to, "Just let the poor people die and get it over with." I'm done with them (until they have a real idea).
I don’t think I’ve ever asked this before. What is something you used to believe or be against, but have changed your mind on in recent years? For me, the biggest thing would be that I am now pro-EVs (mainly the Telsa brand). I used to be against ‘em, but technology has improved significantly and in many cases they outperform ICEs. I do not care about the environmental angle that much or that Elon is the CEO. They just make a great product. I am still against EV mandates. I believe consumers should be able to choose the types of vehicles they want to drive!

MorePerfectUnion “If you spend more than $80,000 renovating an apartment you are trying to turn it from affordable to luxury.” NYS Lawmakers “Renovations cost $30,000. Anything more than that is greed.” And then… Public housing. “We need at least $489,000 per unit to renovate.” City of New York. “We are giving a public housing development $529,000 per unit to renovate it.” I mean COME ON!

“The Boomers didn’t expect to get Social Security, and they still did” They would not have if the Government did not raise the SS tax 13 times in their lifetime and increase the retirement age Is that what you want Gen Z and Gen Y?

The moment you figure out a way to exempt yourself from police service, you has better stock up on ammunition, stop sleeping and never leave your house. The thugs will be patiently waiting to rob your home. Be grateful strong men stand ready to do violence on your behalf.
Riddle me this. If I'm not paying property taxes for the property, but I'm rather paying them for duh rhoadz, duh polize, duh fyre departmentz, and duh schoolz, then why would failing to pay property taxes result in my house being seized instead of just losing access to public roads, the police, and fire departments?

Ok, let's play out your question. Let's factor in the mortgage obligation into the taxing equation. So in the early years when you put 20% down and the bank owns 80% of your home, the BANK should pay 80% of the property tax.

🚨🚨🚨Trigger Warning- this post is going to be a bit controversial! I think we should eliminate IEPs and 504’s for ALL students who have a diagnosis of ADHD only. I’ve yet to see the special education or 504 process change anything for these students that cannot be addressed within the classroom with a standard approach. Virtually every student with ADHD has the EXACT same plan and teachers state the accommodations don’t really work anyway. How about if a student has a medical diagnosis of ADHD and no other disabilities we all agree they get extra time, frequent breaks, and seating preferences. But I have yet to see how 12 years of meetings and countless documents change the outcome for these students. Fortunately, some grow out of it but others use the disability as a crutch and it’s such a waste of human capital. By taking ADHD off of a disability list, schools can focus on the disabilities that need greater amounts of attention. I’m not saying to not provide support, I’m just saying to unravel it from the umbrella of Special Education. And before you slam me, please know I am trying to find ways to reform special education and I welcome alternative ideas.

I'm only into my 2nd month of FSD (and I love it) but it has 1 glaringly obvious flaw that would be easily fixed. Tailgating. The FSD assumes that everything it cannot see represents a "sunny day" situation where no hazard exisists. Tailgating. Tesla needs to flip ONE LINE OF CODE to set the following distance at 50% larger than it currently utilizes and most of their failures will vanish very quickly @elonmusk .

BREAKIBG: Trump has closed the Strait of Hormuz to help Democrats during the midterms.
Zelensky is bombing oil factories to harm republicans in the midterms
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ukraine has long struck Russian oil refineries to disrupt war funding and respond to Russian attacks on its energy grid, per Zelensky. He has offered to halt if Russia does the same. No evidence indicates a motive to affect US midterms. abcnews.com/Politics/presi… washingtonpost.com/investigations… euromaidanpress.com/2026/10/12/zel…

Bro forgot to read the 16th amendment. It's in there.
Nothing in the Constitution authorizes Congress to redistribute wealth. If you want socialism, look somewhere else. The U.S. government has no authority to deliver it.

I'm testing the Russian bots, because traffic from Yandex bots is currently close to zero (check Cloudflare Radar). That's because Ukraine has imposed a ban on them — by firepower. So I'm going to say the following things, which will most likely generate organic, authentic, human traffic, but without the bot traffic. Let's see: * russia is a criminal state; * russia is a terrorist state; * russia is ruled by a criminal regime; * Putin and the entire russian leadership, from 2014 and 2022 onwards, should find themselves inside the courtroom of The Hague Tribunal; * Ukraine is defending itself against all of russia's attacks, pressure from the Trump Administration, and shipments of sophisticated components from around the world, including Europe; * The Ukrainian people are, first and foremost, the ones whom we in Romania — and the Republic of Moldova as well (or especially) — should thank for keeping the russian Army at bay; * The European Union is the best thing that has happened to Romania since the Great Union of 1918; * The United States of America under Donald Trump has become nothing more than an empty shell of the values and principles it championed for decades; * Donald Trump is a convicted common criminal, now also suspected of pedophilia and other forms of sexual abuse against girls and women in connection with the Epstein files; * Elon Musk is an individual who has absolutely nothing to do with ethics or morality, not even remotely. Feel free to add other things that might attract the bots' attention, and let's see whether they're still operating or not.

Because cities have the highest Net Present Value for ~everything. Cities aren't supposed to be cheap, but they can be cheapER with just a few minor tweaks.
Strongtowns cargo cult (Why do urban areas have the highest per person costs for ~everything?)

The more accurate way to assess the situation is: Ukraine is NOT LISTENING to the United States because we are NOT HELPING nearly enough. EU cannot survive without LNG from Russia, and because EU is helping Ukraine survive, Ukraine has chosen to destroy the non-LNG first.
Dus als ik het goed begrijp: wij geven geld aan Oekraïne om de oorlog te financieren, Oekraïne bombardeerd met dat geld olie raffinaderijen in Rusland, en vervolgens wordt onze brandstof onbetaalbaar. 🤔

During the Civil War, you had to be able to see a person before you could kill them. Aviation completely changed the Realm of the Possible with respect to maintaining societal function during conflict. Cruise missiles changed it more. 1864 isn't a relevant data point.
I agree that Trump should not be demanding Zelenskyy's removal because of diesel prices, but it has been almost 7.5 years since the last Ukrainian election. Both the Union and the Confederacy held elections during the US Civil War. To remain legitimate, Ukraine's government needs to hold elections sooner rather than later even as the war continues.

Interesting
According to Cloudflare Data Explorer the amount of russian bot traffic has dropped to 49% after Ukraine struck a yandex data center. Could this disrupt the midterm elections in the US?

why are Ukrainians and their supporters intentionally antagonizing the US?

The government knew Social Security was collapsing. They've known since 1975. They had the reports, the numbers, the warnings, every single year, and they sat on their hands and let it rot because fixing it cost them votes. Now the only plan is to inflate it away. You're the one who suffers in that scenario because we know both parties won't take action to truly fix the problem. The only way out is inflation and both parties are okay with it because they get to blame one another as distraction theater while the problem slowly inflates away. I'm posting the whole paper trail in the coming days. 50 years of it. They knew. They lied. Receipts coming.

If your core premise is that we "...can't from the people who have put in..." then all other solutions involve stealing only from those 'who did not put in' which also fails. Pain will come to EVERYONE while fixing this correctly (NOT just to the unretired). EVERY AMERICAN
Replying to @popculture72632
Show the math You also can’t steal from people who have put in That’s not a fix There are many ways to fix it however that do work
