Every WordPress plugin page shows two numbers: active installs and reviews. We track both daily, for all 82,000 of them. One plugin kept tripping our anomaly detector, so we dug in. It turned into the clearest lesson we've found about what an install count really means. 🧵

I like poking around wp.md/ (by @ciorici 🙌). I've never really been into WP stats of any kind. Can someone help me understand data anomalies like what you see with Envo Royal theme? Other install counts jumping across adjacent brackets don't seem odd to me.

A few cool apps have been added to Menubar List since we launched! I love seeing apps that are beautiful, single-use focussed and useful. It's the heart of menubar apps and why I was so drawn to creating my own when I made Thought Train in 2018 menubarlist.com/ 1/🧵

WordPress gets criticised a lot these days and honestly that always makes me smile a little because the thing is most of the people shouting the loudest are still quietly using it somewhere. I am sitting here with a messy desk, WordPress open on one screen, Elementor on another, and a Pepsi Max slowly losing its fizz beside the keyboard. And the thought that keeps coming back is simple. Tools are just tools. The thinking behind them is what matters. People can chase the next shiny thing if they want. That is fine. But I like knowing exactly how something works, shaping it carefully, and building something that does what the client actually needs. And that is when it suddenly clicks that loyalty to a tool is not stubbornness. It is understanding the craft. #WordPress
