I left Twitter 12 years ago. I was knee-deep in the #WordPress space. I was part of the community in many ways. We all communicated on "here." Some of the same folks are still around. Some are long gone. I never left WordPress, but I wonder if this is still the place to be. 🤔

Hello friends! I’m so excited to open founding enrollment for my new course, Vibe Coding Products for Scrappy Founders. I’m teaching the process I actually use to build with AI, and giving you the guides my own agents use. It’s how I keep the speed of AI without sacrificing quality control or my understanding of how my systems work. It’s also helped me reduce token usage and, in many cases, offload work to inexpensive local models. You’ll also get a ready-to-use AI harness I’ve spent the past year refining while building @sirenaffiliates, internal tools for my company, and solutions for my clients at Novatorius. This isn’t a workflow I put together just to teach a course. It’s how I build. The first 20 people get a discounted rate and a spot in the founding cohort. That includes a 1:1 call with me before the course opens, where we’ll talk through your product and I’ll offer direct advice on how to move it forward. Those conversations will help me make the final adjustments to the course: what needs more explanation, where examples would help, and which problems deserve a deeper dive. You’re not just getting an early-bird discount. You’re getting direct guidance on your product, and helping shape the course around the problems you actually need to solve.

This is for @mikemcalister @jamesckemp @fabiankaegy and anyone else asking why we don't have components in WordPress block themes. It's the top thing agencies asked me about at WCUS (whether they used the word or not). (This is a pretty long/dry video, so apologies there).

It's official. I've purchased my mid-October flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Nashville, Tennessee. This has been a perspective-shifting journey, but I am really excited to rebuild in Nashville. Everything I own fits in an Osprey Farpoint 55L. I get to start from scratch.

Frequently over the last 2 yrs I'd search something like "Dutch assessment quiz" to gauge my CEFR level. I'd open results and choose the site with low friction, usually having to share my email for assessment results. Today, Google built an AI-generated quiz on the spot. Sheesh.

Hey guys. Thought I'd give it another try this week. Looking for WordPress projects of any kind. Really need some work soon! Fingers crossed. Referrals and RT welcome. ❤

Yesterday I finished the entire Dutch Duolingo course. It took 2 years. It has been my lowest form of learning, but it has been great for consistently drilling the basics. Each lesson had at least one "jumping-off point" - you close the app and then go really learn that thing.

- The word order isn't difficult once you learn to think in clauses rather than sentences. - Though I'm glad that most Nederlanders speak English, it's weird seeing English words take over. Maar ik kan niet judgen. 🤷 - English seems oversimplified. 2/3

- "You don't need to learn Dutch to move to the Netherlands, everyone speaks English." Absolute nonsense. Learn Dutch. - Learning German seems way more achievable with a better understanding of English and low-intermediate Dutch. 3/3 That's all.

I cannot prove manipulation, but after tracking WordPress.org theme rankings for a long time, some movements are statistically hard to justify. Several themes on the first 3 pages of the Popular Themes list repeatedly gain or lose 6 to 16 positions while showing the same characteristics: - no updates for 1 to 2 years - almost no reviews or a few bad ones - no support topics Examples: wordpress.org/themes/envo-ro… wordpress.org/themes/envo-on… wordpress.org/themes/futurio… wordpress.org/themes/popular… wordpress.org/themes/spacr/ When you compare these side by side with neighboring themes in the rankings, the difference is obvious. Those other themes typically have frequent updates, dozens or hundreds of reviews, and active support forums. Anyone who has built and maintained a WordPress theme knows how hard it actually is to climb this list. It takes years of consistent updates, ongoing support work, good reviews, and steady adoption. Adding third-party usage data makes this even harder to explain. Inspiro (my theme) has ~70k active installs on wp.org and is detected on ~10,000 real websites according to themesinfo.com. Envo Royal has ~30k installs, yet is detected on only ~370 real websites ⚠️. An enormous gap like this suggests that “active installs” do not reliably correlate with real-world usage. At this point, a review of how these themes' jumps occur would help clarify whether the Popular list reflects real adoption, especially when compared to themes with active users and ongoing maintenance.

I like poking around wp.md/ (by @ciorici 🙌). I've never really been into WP stats of any kind. Can someone help me understand data anomalies like what you see with Envo Royal theme? Other install counts jumping across adjacent brackets don't seem odd to me.

I need your help. I'm looking for sponsors to keep my open source contribution going. 🙏 Last October 2025 I lost my job. 9 months unemployed now, first time this ever happened in 4 years. I interviewed at Automattic but couldn't pass the trial. Applied to many companies, some never replied. So I started contributing to WordPress projects to spend my hard time in a good way. This year I made 150+ PRs and just hit the 100 merged mark. Thankful to every reviewer who taught me and merged my work. Coding standards were tough for me at first, but now with practice and AI help, it's much easier. I don't want to stop here. I'm looking for 40 hours/week sponsorship to keep going full time. Even 1 hour/month means a lot, and I'll promote your sponsorship on my blog, socials, and YouTube. It's not just about money, it's about giving back. If I don't get sponsorship, I won't stop, but I'll be slower, and that's what I hate most. Top projects: Co-Authors Plus (18), WooCommerce (15), Mailchimp for WordPress (13), LifterLMS (9), Static Site Importer (9), and more across Imagify, Newspack, Plugin Check, Pods, WP Rocket, Yoast, Gutenberg. Thanks to @NinjaForms (@JamesLaws) and @dannyvankooten for sponsoring me before, means everything. All PRs: mypr.pro.bd/faisalahammad Contact: [email protected] Special tag: @Automattic @photomatt @gravityforms @Yoast @RocketDotNet @Bluehost @Hostinger @wp_rocket @Barn2Plugins / @KatieKeithBarn2 @kinsta @GoDaddy and everyone who believes in open source.

Asked Claude to change the entire design system of wp.md, and the result did not disappoint. It even added an auto-complete to the search form and some Premium themes & plugins ranking, but it's still wip: wp.md/premium-themes/ wp.md/premium-plugins/ Next, I will probably create a custom theme, as I have more ideas for the footer/header, etc.

I use a mouse with ratchet scrolling (auto-shifts to smooth based on scroll speed). Scroll-driven website animations that have easing transitions give the appearance of glitching while ratchet scrolling. This post is just a heads-up for designers who aren't aware.

This is probably the closest thing you'll see to a 'breaking change' in WordPress, so if your plugin does anything funky with post list tables, I'd recommend testing ahead of WordPress 7.1. Worth it for the accessibility win. make.wordpress.org/core/2026…

Nailed it.
Going forward, I think themes are largely going to be a collection of design tokens and markup patterns but virtually everything else will just be built-in or be a plug-in that is designed to use whatever.
