There is always plenty to see at Sherwood Forest, with Crossbills and Tawny Owl being regular. My fav on this visit was the Minotaur Beetle. Typhaeus typhoeus is a species of earth-boring dung beetles native to Europe. The beetles have now become rare and are protected in Germany

Half decent couple of days @gibpoint with Dusky Warbler the 'star bird' but this showy Jack Snipe was good value too. Sadly we didn't get the same level of rarities seen up and down the coast but it was good to be back nevertheless @pseudoliam @AlexMasterman0

There are 5 species of owl in the UK. Yesterday we ringed them all in one incredible session on the Salisbury Plain. We ringed 3 Short Eared Owls, 2 Long Eared Owls, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Tawny Owl & 1 Little Owl. We also retrapped 3 Barn Owls ringed as nestlings = great survival data.
