The only way to achieve AI alignment is by inventing mind reading.
Billions of supercomputers between everyone's skulls and not one of us can transfer lossless information.
This is the bottleneck for human alignment.
Existing communication vehicles (speech, text, etc.) cannot come close to the fidelity confined to our brains.
Communication is lossy. This causes apathy. Apathy causes wars.
The current solution? Storytelling.
Storytelling is the only way to transfer emotions between brains. And emotion is the only way to coordinate people and incite action.
Facts alone can only incite action by interacting with the receivers' beliefs → igniting emotions.
Using the right facts is storytelling.
So the bottleneck for human alignment is the fidelity with which we can all feel what others feel. If we had lossless neural transfer (mind reading), there would be no conflict.
AI alignment is Empathy Whack-A-Mole...
...unless you have all the data.
We can try to impart AI with all the wisdom and frameworks for empathy, but really,
the only way to feel what someone feels is to be them.
Should we implant every human with a neural interface and invite ASI to read it all? Maybe.
But if you're not working on that...

they’re also banning items over $1,000 and most japanese pokemon center products
honestly, this feels like a pretty clear message
they don’t want official events to look like investor conventions where everything is about psa 10s, resale value and overpriced chase cards
