I generally avoid political posts on here, but I really hope we can move away from this creeping rhetoric where half the country is getting punished based on who they voted for. We've already seen tangible examples with how Colorado was treated. I don't want the next Democratic administration to stiff Florida on hurricane funding to "punish" them for voting red. This attitude is antithetical to the whole concept of the Union and really needs to be addressed (I think it might be something actually worthy of impeachment). We're all Americans regardless of who you voted for. Sadly it feels like bipartisanship is dead sometimes, but we have to try.
President Trump suggests he will not providing funding for Georgia if Mike Collins isn’t elected: They need money for Georgia. I don’t give a damn.

A Civil Emergency Message is in effect for all of Los Angeles County in California, due to the threat of fast spreading wildfires. Dangerous Red Flag conditions will result in fires spreading very quickly. If you feel unsafe near a fire, leave ASAP, do not wait for official guidance or evacuations orders.

VERY few times in my career have I had a pucker factor of 1,000, but THIS is absolutely insane. Wild conditions in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, right now. The wind sounds like a literal jet engine! #Isaias @WxWiseApp @ryanhallyall

There's a common misconception that often occurs when strong hurricanes begin to interact with mid latitude vorticity. Yes, the vorticity will shear, and ultimately weaken the storm; but there's an ugly price to pay during the early stages of that process that can turn the whole equation upside-down. Many times, including today with Isaias, shear starts to disrupt the system without truly damaging the core. The result is a tropically powered core with bursts of new convection surrounded by dynamically enhanced features producing their own chaos. In other words, the system actually gets more dangerous during the first handful of hours during this process, not less. The key then becomes: "Where does the landfall occur in relation to this timing?" If it's delayed enough, nobody on land ever feels these consequences. But if landfall occurs during the height of this transformation, people end up stunned by the ferocity of the storm. The most famous and extreme example of this (nothing like this will happen today) is the 1938 hurricane, which produced its highest recoded wind gust of 186mph not on Long Island, where the storm made landfall, but way over near Boston at the Blue Hill Observatory in eastern Massachusetts. That's the power of mixing a major hurricane with mid latitude vorticity! And it remains one of the most awesome and misunderstood phenomenons in weather. Right now, Isaias is getting his own shot of adrenaline from a decent dose of vorticity. So the question is: "How long does that last before the core collapses?" It's a race between this and the moment of landfall, and by the look of things, it's going to be a photo finish!
Dynamics may be taking over here as Isaias merges with the vorticity shearing it. Winds have increased dramatically on the eastern side of the structure despite the appearance on satellite looking more ragged. Fort Walton Beach and Destin are going to get raked in a few hours!

Bit of a #nerdtweet so keep scrolling if you want haha. The convective pattern in #Isaias right now is pretty much a classic example of a TC that's trying to intensify in shear. You have the asymmetry with convection initiating downshear-right, peaking downshear-left, trying to wrap upshear left, and then decaying upshear right, with mostly just cirrus anvil right-of-shear. Lots of work on this topic. Here are a few good ones. Wild day with anywhere from 9-15 tornadoes! A couple from very close range while sliding sideways on treacherous muddy roads. If you got stuck today don’t feel bad, that was about as bad as it gets out there! If you made it through without, congrats!
