Tornadoes CAN happen in the mountains! 🌪️⛰️ Check out WF’s new terrain shading feature. You can turn it on in the web app toward the bottom of the Maps menu.

To access ensemble tropical products: select a global ensemble and choose an option from the Tropical menu. Model spaghetti plots: select ATCF at the bottom of the list of hurricane models.

Watch the European Ensemble shift east with Lowell's track over the last 11 runs. 😬 The centerline is now nearly 150 miles east of what was forecast 72 hours ago. The result: more significant impacts for Kaua'i and Ni'ihau.

🌫️ Fall is prime time for river valley fog! Clear skies and light winds allow valleys to cool quickly overnight. This time of year, river water temperatures are still relatively warm compared to cooler air temperatures. Moisture above the warmer river water condenses in the chilly air, and the fog settles into low-lying areas overnight. Once the morning sun warms things up, the fog mixes out and valleys clear up.
