The #CBE remains committed to driving inclusive growth through infrastructure-led development, professionalisation of the sector, and enhancing public safety through strengthened investigative powers. We thank all stakeholders for their valuable contributions. @DepartmentPWI
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure’s Policy, Research and Regulation (PRR) Branch, in collaboration with the Council for the Built Environment (CBE), convened a successful stakeholder engagement workshop in Durban. The engagement was for getting input on the proposed amendments to the CBE Act 43 of 2000. The amendments in the draft Bill seek to address fragmentation across regulatory bodies, establish the CBE as a single, strong regulator of the built environment, introduce professional boards that will retain profession-specific expertise while operating within a coordinated regulatory system. The Bill will support government’s mandate of driving inclusive growth through infrastructure-led growth, professionalisation of the built environment sector, contribute to public safety, and provide for enhanced investigative powers for the CBE during building disasters. #BuiltEnvironment #CBEAct #PublicWorks #Infrastructure #letsbuildsa @cbe_rsa
