The latest SC Report Card data has been released, reflecting the incredible hard work of our students, educators, and families. Take a look at these highlights and stay tuned this week as we continue the celebrations!
* 20 schools boosted their overall Report Card rating from last year
* 19 schools achieved an Excellent rating
* 100% Graduation Rate at three Institute high schools
* A special shoutout to Belton Preparatory Academy, Gray Collegiate Academy, and Royal Live Oaks Academy for earning an Excellent report card rating across multiple grade bands served!
To our school leaders, teachers, students, and families: thank you for setting a high bar and continuously pushing for growth. Together, we are moving the needle on human flourishing for nearly 40,000 children and shaping the future of South Carolina!
On July 4th, our family safely evacuated our home as it was lost to fire. To the brave first responders at @ColaFire, thank you for protecting my family, our house, and our city. It is a true privilege to live in a community protected by heroes like you.
I’m thankful to live in the freest, most blessed nation the world has ever known. May God continue to bless these United States of America and may we continue to stand as a light upon a hill for generations to come!

New Year, new approach. Rather than a typical school leaders meeting, we grouped our school leaders to visit their peer schools. Through conversations, classroom observations, and activities, the groups shared best practices and came together to transform a generation.

Superintendent Runyan and the Institute join the education world in mourning the loss of former State Superintendent Dr. Barbara Nielsen.
This week, the Institute team is offering boots-on-the-ground support to one of our new schools, the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence. WJSE will open in just under two weeks to students in grades K-6. We can’t wait to see how the Eagles will #MoveTheNeedle in Orangeburg!
Many, many thanks to Dame @andreajenkyns for meeting with our great school leaders in Parliament this afternoon. @ErskineCharters we love taking our leaders places they have never been and watching them grow for the benefit of our state’s precious children!
This afternoon, it was wonderful to host in parliament thirty South Carolina school leaders from the @ErskineCharters This included inspiring principals, superintedents & school directors. It was great to hear their passion for teaching.
Many congratulations to our recently approved charter applicant groups as well as our top 5 Teacher of the Year finalists, both of which we had the pleasure of hosting in our office this week!

Busy week at the Institute! Premiered our original documentary yesterday, & today our Ambassadors visited the State House to learn about legislation & advocacy. These events remind us of our responsibility to teach the next generation to live well and become productive citizens.
I enjoyed meeting with the young leaders in the Student Government program at American Leadership Academy - Lexington. We had a great conversation about the uniqueness and importance of American exceptionalism, leadership, culture, and education.
These incredible @ErskineCharters Ambassadors joined me at the statehouse to close out School Choice Week today. This week serves to remind the state how school choice is transforming a generation.
What an honor to celebrate a special school - @heronacademysc, a virtual AEC that opened last year and celebrated its first graduates last night. Thank you to SC Learns & Supt. @ellenfored for reminding us why we do this work - to help every student realize their potential.
