Denial of the need for net zero is climate denial. Treating facts of planetary physics as divisive trigger words is performative infantilism, not politics.

Isn’t it great that we’re celebrating David Attenborough’s 100th birthday whilst ignoring the message he’s spent the last 20 years trying to get through to us:

The right-wing press now exists to promote self-harm. More accurately, a fantasy that we're better off if we ignore the harm we're doing to ourselves and treat those who want solutions as the enemy. This isn't naïvety. It's a performative ignorance cult, and it's vile.

Sadly the last ever episode of Science in Action, the excellent flagship science programme of the BBC World Service. Thanks @PeaseRoland & crew for your work. They haven't held back. It's a belter...💥 bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct6yg…

In a new article, @S_VanTeutem and Joe Hasell give a sense of the scale of global inequality — and explain how those of us living in rich countries find ourselves in an extraordinary position to do good. ourworldindata.org/global-in…

It’s ’just some weather’ in Portugal. People who deny climate science are every bit as deranged as anti vax conspiracists.

If we reach 1.5°C, this is what is going to happen: ‼️Every fraction of a degree matters—beyond 1.5°C, the risks and damages from extreme weather, sea-level rise, and biodiversity loss increase dramatically. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables

It’s like we’re living in the first 15 minutes of ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ where there’s crazy weather all over the world, from India to the USA, as politicians dismiss the science, just before civilisation collapses

The fact that no one cares about this will forever be a mystery to me. Stupidity? Cognitive dissonance? Evil? IDK. But it really pisses me off that the people doing nothing are taking all of us - and all species - with them. 🤬 apnews.com/article/climate-u…

Many petitions and campaigns to ban artificial grass, for residential use, childrens play areas, sports, or in town centres. All pollute, overheat, harm our environment and do nothing for nature. Rubber has to be replaced as it migrates into soil and water ways.

The Times caught out totally mangling facts on costs of climate inaction. Thanks @DrSimEvans for getting to the truth: “Instead, it was the impact of NOT cutting emissions that the OBR had found would be "far more damaging than thought"
MEDIA STUDIES: How the Times bungled its coverage of the OBR report on climate change & UK govt debt Yesterday's newspaper reported a major shift: "The OBR now thinks…net-zero will have a far more damaging impact on borrowing…" In fact, the OBR had said the opposite! 1/6

I live in a country that gives military support to another country which is killing thousands of civilians while proscribing an organisation which protests about it.

This article will soon be illegal. Designating Palestine Action a terrorist organisation on an equal footing with ISIS is a grotesque attack on democracy. It's those who facilitated genocide who should be on trial. Piece for @The_NewArab 👇 newarab.com/opinion/if-pales…

Independent experts today urged the UK 🇬🇧 not to ban the “direct action” group @Pal_action as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. “Acts of protest that damage property, but are not intended to kill or injure people, should not be treated as #terrorism.”
