We're officially launching!
Our letter for the PM is complete. Thanks to the hundreds of you who have signed so far, and to @friends_earth and @PriceofOil for their advice.
Let's end new fossil fuel financing this year! Keep signing up🌎

A new study has examined 20,736 scientific publications about climate tipping points. Several of those are estimated to be crossed around 1.5 degrees warming, i.e. any time soon: permafrost thaw, Greenland Ice Sheet, North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre.

As great ideas go, this has already gone.

We are in 'Gob Smackingly Bananas' territory.
@BBCJustinR has written compellingly about this historic #ElNino, as government quietly admits carbon emissions from aviation will be 50% higher than thought and supports airport expansion.
Kool aid all round.

🚨The most important graph in the world has another 6 months of data!🚨
NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space.
The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled over the past 26 years!
The most important graph in the world.
Two years ago NASA showed the world that the rate of global heat uptake had doubled since 2005.
It barely made the news.

Mountain glaciers are losing mass increasingly fast world-wide over the past 75 years in response to #globalwarming. This and permafrost thawing can destabilize mountain sides and cause glacial collapse and flash floods.

Climate experts have been predicting events like Nepal disaster for decades. By @jonathanwatts theguardian.com/world/2026/a…
Bizarrely this is now being described by @BBCWorld as a ‘flash flood’.
Is this trying to normalise climate catastrophe?
There are around 200,000 glaciers in the world available for ‘flash floods’. How many are in a similar state?

A glacier fails. A mountainside collapses.
Hours later, entire communities downstream were engulfed by floodwaters.
A climate scientist from Nepal explains what happened, and why it matters far beyond the Himalayas.

'But we only produce 1% of world emissions'
'Glaciers have always collapsed'
'Climate has always changed'

Warnings from history.
Ominous conclusion from recent paper on an obscure warming event 304 million years ago. Low latitude warming of 3.5°C, at a rate of a tenth of a degree per thousand years, has potential to trigger catastrophic greenhouse gas release and ecosystem collapse pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.26…
What would governments do if tens of thousands of people were killed in an attack overnight? Do we not need to change the language and start calling out climate disasters? ‘Fossil fuelled catastrophe’ would put the blame where it lies at least.
It appears that the disaster may be climate change related. We await more information nytimes.com/2026/08/26/world…
This is just a snippet of the huge civilisational changes which are moving towards us.
If media cannot even report the threat of #4billiondead we really have reached #DontLookUp
2C is identified as a plausible tipping point for #AMOC
Unfortunately this is looking more and more likely in the shorter rather than longer term
the New scientist reports that #AMOC collapse is more likely the faster climate changes and as it accelerates this is huge. archive.is/HergP
Independents seem more likely to grasp it though, so where are likes of @bbcnews @itvnews @Channel4News ?
