Recently, there’s been some "P(doom)" in the robot learning community around the idea that LLMs will solve robotics. I believe LLM agents are great for planning, but handling dynamics and dexterous manipulation still requires a fast System 1—or System 0. Inspired by @typesafeai JEV’s release of a fast System 1 model, we hope this result offers another perspective on why System 1 still matters—and why there’s still so much worth pursuing in robotics research. We partnered with @robocurve @chooi_jeq , an independent evaluation company, to benchmark Dream-1. It achieved the highest score among the models evaluated on RoboDojo-RC Tier 1: 59, while being faster and cheaper. ⚡ Regardless of VLA, WAM, LLM, etc, they can all be complementary. Ultimately, I’m glad to see the community keeping an open mind and exploring different ways to solve robotics. Ultimately, the objective matters more than any particular approach: making robots more accessible.
Dream-1 by @dreamlabs_ai is the first model to complete "Stand Up Bottles", a difficult robotics task that frontier LLMs struggle with.

Calibration is the real problem. If a model says 0.9, it should be right about 9 times out of 10. Otherwise nobody downstream can set a threshold. Also underrated: abstaining. In medicine, "not enough information" is often the most honest answer. xitter.cf/Nandakishorm1/status/2…
Vega Universal decision model. Now you don't need to train a separate model for each decision; you can use one engine and multiple LLMs as needed. This solves an important problem current decision models face: accuracy and calibration error. The idea is simple: you train a small projection layer and use that to attach any llm, vegaml package automatically ports that to a common dimension. That's it: joint training with invariance loss embedding.in/blog/vega-u-one… github.com/NandhaKishorM/veg… huggingface.co/nandakishorm/…

2026 is the year of orexin agonists: the ‘GLP1s of the brain’. Takeda’s oveporexton became the first to be FDA-approved this year, for narcolepsy. Orexin agonists could transform sleep medicine just like GLP1s transformed obesity -- and they're already expanding into more indications: sleep disorders beyond narcolepsy, fatigue, depression and even ADHD. You can see that in the pipeline of emerging drugs -- and 8 companies already have clinical-stage orexin agonists.

Our paper is out in @NatureAging. We looked for factors that make old cells' gene expression young without erasing their identity. SRSF1 came out as a promising rejuvenation target that reduced aging hallmarks in human cells and extended median lifespan of aged mice by 14%. 1/4
