Very proud to have our latest work now online in @NatureSMB. This project was a long road that evolved with new technologies. A wonderful team effort across the centromere community, including @NAltemose @FachinettiLab and @GiuntaLab. Happy reading! 1/4

Hey RTE, I'm pretty sure the misspelling on a sign at Ceannt Station in Galway isn't the big story of the day from there. 🤔
A rail passenger noticed an Irish language sign at Ceannt Station in Galway was spelled incorrectly. But the issue in Ceannt Station is not an isolated one

If you work your whole life and pay PRSI in Ireland, and you are not in a pension scheme you reach 66 years of age, you are entitled to €299 per week of a pension.
If you never worked a day in your life and you reach 66 years old……. You are entitled to €288 per week!
So you work 40 to 50 years of your life AND pay PRSI every week for a pathetic €11 per week!
Make it make sense!

We discover that CENP-A chromatin at a de novo human neocentromere and at canonical alpha satellites are highly plastic! They are surrounded by dense regions of H3K9me3 heterochromatin & DNAme! 3/4

Delighted to see our new study on CENP-A dynamics in bovine spermatogenesis published in Chromosome Research. It looks like many of the unusual centromere dynamics first observed in the Drosophila male germline are conserved in bulls: link.springer.com/10.1007/s1…

🎉 Excited to share my first paper as 2nd author! From the Barr & Gruneberg labs, this work explores the structure of the Chromosome Passenger Complex (CPC) and suggests a ‘pivot–tether’ model for how it binds H3pT3-phosphorylated nucleosomes (1/2)

I’m excited to share the first manuscript out of my PhD work with @NAltemose, in which we describe FiberFold: a deep learning tool that predicts cell-type-specific and haplotype-specific 3D genome organization from a single experiment!
