A checkpoint holds off cell division until every chromosome is properly attached. We show it senses this through distance: kinetochores pulled away from Aurora B no longer recruit MPS1.

🔬Demanding multicolor 3D imaging with ultra-low signals is a challenge for super-res microscopy. Using @LeicaMicro TauSTED Xtend, @DannyBHGold (Barr lab, @BiochemOxford) characterised NDC80, showing how microtubule tension displaces kinetochores from Aurora B during mitosis.

🎉 Excited to share my first paper as 2nd author! From the Barr & Gruneberg labs, this work explores the structure of the Chromosome Passenger Complex (CPC) and suggests a ‘pivot–tether’ model for how it binds H3pT3-phosphorylated nucleosomes (1/2)

The Barr lab @BiochemOxford has discovered the important role of cell division timing mechanisms in the formation of cancer. The research, funded by Cancer Research UK, provides valuable insight into how damaged cells are normally stopped from growing. ⬇️bit.ly/202502-barr
