Digic 8 vs Digic 8. One from SX70, other from 250D. Different P/N but at least UART and JTAG pinout (and in general - ball grid array layout) matches.

DIGIC 8, after stacked (package on a package) RAM was removed. Good luck googling CH4-7000 P/N. No cameras were harmed during chip removal. That SX70 HS was already dead by water submersion. @autoexec_bin

Canon cameras have an internal counter on how many times the shutter was actuated. It's like the odometer on a car. Turns out RP firmware has a bug which leads into a super huge number here. It seems to be a static offset value of 1086947309 so I have taken 2107 photos until now.

Now where a minimal version of Magic Lantern runs on EOS RP, it's time for some experiments. Models like R, R6 or R5 allow closing the shutter when the camera is turned off. Unfortunately this is not available on RP but thanks to Magic Lantern it will be possible in future. :)

Today I have managed to get a basic port of Magic Lantern running on a EOS RP! Thanks to @_kitor for helping me with some crash analysis! We only have menus for now and no feature works yet but it proofs that Magic Lantern is definitely possible on this camera.

This moment of excitement when you found 4MB of potentially unused memory. Not that R has 2GB RAM, but - except a few megabytes - memory is allocated to various camera functions and we can't just take it whenever we want. #eosr #magiclantern @autoexec_bin
