The 11th Ayurveda Day 2026 programme at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium, Nagpur, Maharashtra, commenced with the ceremonial Lamp Lighting and Dhanvantari Vandana in the presence (virtual) of Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Ayush, and Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; Prof. (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS; Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur; and other distinguished dignitaries and stakeholders.
The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of the programme focused on the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”, with deliberations on Ayurveda, research, healthcare, innovation and the development of the Ayush sector.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, addressed the gathering during the 11th Ayurveda Day 2026 programme. His address covered key areas related to Ayurveda and the Ayush sector, including healthcare delivery, research, quality, innovation and the continued development of Ayush systems.
He highlighted key developments in the Ayush sector, including the establishment of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, the expansion of the Ayush industry, advances in traditional medicine classification under ICD-11, the development of 200+ BIS standards, the Ayush Quality Mark and the growing body of research and global collaboration in traditional medicine.
He also emphasised strengthening collaboration between Ayush and modern medical institutions, citing initiatives with AIIMS, NIMHANS and TMC-ACTREC, as well as the Ayush-ICMR multicentric Phase III study on Punarnavadi Mandoor as an example of evidence generation in Ayurveda.
The address further underlined the need to strengthen translational research, foster collaboration among research institutions, universities, healthcare institutions, industry and startups, and build a robust national Integrative Healthcare ecosystem.

The certification recognises eligible products and organisations that meet the prescribed quality requirements under the Ayush Quality Mark framework, reinforcing the commitment to quality, safety, consistency and credibility in the Ayush sector.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Ayush, and Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, virtually addressed the gathering during the 11th Ayurveda Day 2026 programme. In his address, he spoke on the role of Ayurveda and the Ayush sector in healthcare and highlighted the initiatives being undertaken to further strengthen the sector.
In his address, he emphasised Ayurveda’s focus on preventive healthcare and healthy living, highlighting the importance of balanced nutrition, daily and seasonal routines, adequate sleep, yoga and harmony with nature. He stressed that health begins at home and lifestyle is the first foundation of wellbeing.
The historic significance of 23 September being designated as Ayurveda Day every year, symbolising balance in nature, and spoke about the growing global recognition of Ayurveda and Ayush, including the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, ITRA’s status as an Institute of National Importance, and the inclusion of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani in ICD-11.
He also highlighted Maharashtra and Nagpur’s contribution to Ayurveda, including the role of CCRAS’s Regional Ayurveda Research Institute in advancing research and addressing local health needs.
