I think its time humanity pause reproduction.
Over the past several months, we have substantially hardened the security of our research training environment. We’ve removed live internet access for all frontier models during training and built an offline world for them to use instead—a cached version of the web where they can still learn to browse, search, and use applications. On September 20, after a model exploited a DNS misconfiguration to find a way outside of this offline world, we paused frontier training to strengthen containment further. We assembled teams of agents, powered by our most cyber-capable models, and tasked them with finding weaknesses in our research environments. While they found no route to the internet they could easily exploit while concealing their activity from our monitors, they did find zero-day vulnerabilities, virtual machine escapes, and hardware side-channels for communication between agents. We used their discoveries to further strengthen our defenses and contribute fixes to open-source software. After strengthening our containment architecture, we resumed our frontier RL training and inference on October 1. We’ve reserved substantial compute for continuous red-teaming, and made high-compute red-teaming part of the safety cases we use to decide whether frontier training and evaluation can proceed securely. openai.com/index/securing-ou…

A stronger case can be made for India. The fight should be for the third place, that's more than good enough.
Should Europe leave frontier AI to the Americans and the Chinese? The idea has gained ground in Europe. It is a fundamental mistake. Build or surrender: for now, the choice is still ours. Full article below.

Some of y’all’s technical debt is higher than US national debt.

I tried her workflow and gave up. It’s not realistic for normies. But she’s living in the future, and we can only admire it from the sidelines.
poteto's cursor profile is public. She's used 1.5T tokens in the last 30 days. Assuming an avg rate of $8/M that's $384k/day or $11m. In the last 30 days. Per year thats $132M. Let's assume Cursor has some insane deal with Anthropic and gets 90% off. That comes out to $38k/day or $1.1M in Sept/Oct. $13m will get me 26 sassy staff-level all stars for $500k/yr
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Cursor profile at cursor.com/@lauren shows 1.5T tokens used. Cost estimates at $8/M do not account for prompt caching common in agent coding, where cache reads are billed at ~10% of input rates per analyses of Anthropic pricing. This results in lower effective costs. cursor.com/@lauren chudi.dev/blog/claude-pr… carlosaragon.online/blog/anthropic…

Got credited with $1000 in 5 minutes. Check out.
The Claude Startups program is expanding to more founders. Members can get a year of Claude Team, API credits, special offers on the tools a startup runs on, and office hours with Anthropic’s Applied AI team.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit - beautifully made movie. Looking back, this will be one of those Sathyan Anthikad-type movie experiences accepted by every generation equally for their own reasons. Can't stop thinking about how much the female protagonist evolved in the Malayalam cinema over the years.

Opus 5.5 is an exceptional model. Do your best before they nerf it.

It’s a lot to process. He could be right, but it’s saddening, to say the least. We are all a meat proxy now. Long live the Rails.
It's pencils down, people. Writing code by hand is no longer an economically viable skill for most programmers at most companies. But the future of making software has never been brighter. Don't you dare black pill this beautiful moment! youtu.be/vDjW_dRyKXY?si=6Fsf…

Thats like half the internet!
A CVSS 9.2 vulnerability was just disclosed in Wordpress, affecting all versions going back to 2016 😳

Delighted with Fastpotify. It has replaced the bloated Spotify app on my M1 Mac. I didn't even know this was possible.
Fastpotify 0.3.0 is out 🎧 My fast, native Spotify client in Rust. • Drag and drop everywhere: songs onto playlists, reorder rows, pin by dragging • Super fast with your own Spotify Developer app working alongside the shared one to get the full catalog • Lyrics from Spotify itself, synced to the exact recording • Instant playlists: cached in the app, with sorted views that actually play in order • Shuffle that stays on, resume on launch, and a pile of fixes and more! 8 community PRs merged this release. Thank you all. github.com/crmne/fastpotify/…

"$6 million is not gonna make any difference in my life. If you really think it's a good idea, go ahead." This kind of risk capital makes SV and US what it is.
.@bhorowitz on how a game studio turned it's last $6 million into Slack: "Stewart calls me. He says, 'Ben, I've got $6 million left. I have no way to raise money because I've made really no progress. So I've got three choices. I can pray for rain and try and finish it, I can shut down the company and give you your $6 million back, or we built this tool that we use in our engineering team to communicate with each other, and I could just put that out as a product.'" "I'm like, 'What? You just built some tool to talk to each other and you want to put that out as a product? And you're a consumer guy, and you want to become an enterprise software guy?'" "$6 million is not gonna make any difference in my life. If you really think it's a good idea, go ahead." Ben Horowitz Talks Honesty, Failure, and Secrets at UC Berkeley (2016)

At last, a real implementation of agents for teams.
We’ve decided to open-source a multi-agent harness we use internally at YC. We call it “QM” and it’s meant to be easy to customize, like Hermes or OpenClaw, but useful for a whole company. We use it across accounting, legal, events, and engineering (including building QM itself!). The whole project is under an MIT license. It is cloud-first and has Slack and web UI natively.
