The way great founders become great capital allocators is by investing in their own pockets of value only they can access via their moat.
Not every great product founder ends up with an investable platform business, so vision really matters.
So Parm and Will are both wrong.
Cards on the table: let’s talk about your #BFCM plan!
We’re spending Oct 16 in Austin with Frankly Ecommerce and Brian Massey of Conversion Sciences, getting into offers, landing pages, waitlists, and the BFCM decisions that are still up for debate.
Then over lunch, our own Ashley Bondeson is joining Patrick Scott Pitman to talk wishlist and back-in-stock flows: what gets shoppers to come back, what tends to convert, and the first thing she’d set up if there were only an afternoon to work with.
If you’re in Austin and still making BFCM calls, you’ll probably want to be in this one. Comment below for the invite.
Pick your problem with Meherish and see which part of your wishlist strategy you should be working on next.
A lot of brands start with the obvious use cases: wishlist reminders, back-in-stock, price-drop and low-stock alerts. But that doesn’t have to be where your wishlist strategy stops!
You can use wishlist behavior to build segments, bring saved products into winbacks, add them to newsletters, or even use them in post-purchase flows. The session walks through how to move from the basic triggered flows into more of those use cases.

New baby announcement!
At dawn today, ex-orphan Chaimu returned to our Ithumba stockades with a beautiful surprise – her newborn daughter. We were delighted that she chose to share this special moment with the Keepers who helped raise her.
Named Comet, she is the 95th known calf born to an orphan rescued, raised and rewilded through our Orphans’ Project.
Each new arrival is a wonderful reminder of what your support makes possible: not just saving individual lives, but giving rise to new generations of wild elephants.

The weaving of gamocha goes on as elephants pass nearby, somewhere in Goalpara, Assam. There is something deeply moving about this calm, about a community that makes room for elephants in everyday life.
As the world grows less tolerant to wildlife, this simple moment gives us inspiration to learn from communities who share space with wildlife.

Swymbiosis Chapter 3 gave us exactly the kind of day we hoped for when we started planning it.
Yesterday was all about getting 1,500 trees into the ground with Karisakattu Poove Trust, and a lot of credit goes to the KP team, who had already done so much of the prep before we arrived and stayed with us through the planting, guiding us as we went and keeping the day moving.
And to every Swymmer, friend, and family member who came along, thank you for bringing the energy, the patience, and a fair bit of arm strength. 💚

We’ve got some groundbreaking news. And we do mean ground-breaking. 🌲
On September 28, we’ll be at the Chennapalli Panchayat site in Shoolagiri with Karisakattu Poove Trust, planting 1,000 trees as part of Swymbiosis.
Swymbiosis has always grown alongside Swym. As we grow, we want that growth to extend beyond the company too — through the way we care for the environment around us. This time, that means getting 1,000 saplings into the ground and giving them room to grow for years to come.

This is one Ganpati Visarjan in reverse that just won my heart. Considering that the riverTeesta was integral to my childhood years in Jalpaiguri it was even more endearing! 🥰

Fishermen rescue elephant calf from Teesta River in Gajoldoba, reunite it with mother.

What an amazing view and video.
Today this small calf of 3–4-days was swept away by the Teesta River near Gajoldoba and found several kilometres downstream. While mother was looking after it.
With the timely efforts of the Baikunthapur Forest Division, support from local fishermen, and veterinary care, the calf was safely rescued and reunited with its mother, who immediately accepted and nursed it.
Just look at how mother behaved !!

One of the rarest sights in Indian Railways: an electric locomotive-hauled train running without overhead electric wires!
This unusual operation is currently seen on two routes in India, the Ramanathapuram–Rameshwaram section in Tamil Nadu and the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar section in Karnataka.
But why is a small portion of these otherwise electrified routes still without overhead wires, while electric locomotives continue to operate on them? The core reason is airports and aviation operations.
On the Ramanathapuram–Rameshwaram route, the railway line passes close to a Naval air base, while on the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar route, it runs near Mysuru Airport. During electrification, concerns were raised about overhead equipment in the vicinity of active runways and its potential impact on flight operations.
As a result, while most of both routes were electrified, these small sections were left without overhead electric supply.
But Indian Railways still wanted to operate electric locomotives on the routes. So, a rather unusual solution is used: trains accelerate to their permissible speed before entering the non-electrified section and then roll through it using their momentum before reaching the electrified section again.
It sounds like a hack, but this is an actual operational practice, making it one of the most unusual electric-train operations you can spot in Indian Railways.
And yes, there have even been instances on these sections where a train reportedly got stuck after losing momentum in the non-electrified zone! :)

A truly historic and joyous moment for Project Cheetah!
A day after India's Cheetah Project completed four years, KGP12, an Indian-born female cheetah, has given birth to four cubs in Kuno.
Four years, four new lives—a beautiful symbol of hope, resilience and the growing success of cheetah conservation in India.
Heartiest congratulations to the entire Kuno and Project Cheetah family.

Making a functioning prototype is intoxicating. And now, anyone can do it. The trap is mistaking our astonishment at what we were able to make for evidence that what we made is good.
We need to be able to throw away and redraw prototypes as quickly as we erase whiteboards, and with the same level of detachment. We must guard against whole teams getting distracted by searching for merit in bad protos just because their makers (often oneself, btw) are dazzled by the magic of what AI can produce.
“Slop grenade” is such a useful term to name this phenomenon.
Lazy work used to mean too little output.
Now, with AI, it often means too much and more work for everyone else.
@tobi call it "slop grenades."
A "Slop Grenade" is when you let AI produce the work and pass it on without adding any value (including checking it).
Someone else has to wade through it, catch the mistakes, and clean up the mess.
You save time and look productive but someone else pays for it.

Best video to start your day group of men rescued a Himalayan brown bear cub that got stuck in a glacier crevasse. When you see videos like this, you realise men can really go to any extent, even risking their own lives, just to help another life. This cute little teddy was rescued safely and later found his family. ❤️

On Ganesh Chaturthi, I give you the "Fibonacci Elephant."
I created a new animation of the amazing "Fibonacci Elephant." (It uses more squares in the trunk than in the previous animation I posted, suggesting an infinite trunk.)

I will dedicate the final hours of this day, 25 years after everything changed forever, to Port Authority Police K-9 Sirius, who perished when the North Tower collapsed.
His remains were recovered on 01/22/2002.
All work at Ground Zero was halted, and he was carried out draped in the American flag by an honor guard that included his handler, Police Officer David Lim.
May this hero, along with all the others, forever rest in peace and never be forgotten.
