New blog post out, this time on the surface code! I've had a lot of fun integrating my visualisation tool (gui.quantumcodes.io) into it, so you will be able to interact with the different variants of the surface code that I present here :)

Jumping on the QIP release bandwagon with our new paper:
Polynomial-time Simulation of Non-Clifford Quantum Error Correction
A very fun collaboration with Serban Cercelescu and Mark Koch! 🎉
Link and thread below 🧵👇

Some early benchmarks show that Merlin performs quite well as logical qubits increase compared to other simulators. Here is a comparison for 1,000 shots of the Bravyi-Haah 3k+8 -> 3k distillation protocol. We also give numbers for some code switching and cultivation circuits

As a final note, you might have noticed that the topic has been quite popular this month! Go check out those recent papers for different ways of understanding it: arxiv.org/abs/2609.16929, arxiv.org/abs/2609.19485, arxiv.org/abs/2610.03605, arxiv.org/abs/2610.00464

The third blog post of my topological QEC series is out! You will learn about cochain complexes and their geometrical interpretation, cohomology groups, the universal coefficient theorem, Poincaré duality, and the QEC interpretation of all this! Enjoy!

The second part of my topological QEC series is out, this time on homology, the main mathematical tool to compute the number of logical qubit of a quantum code! With many fun exercises to practice and prove the properties of some common topological codes!

New blog post out! ✨
I give here a visual introduction to algebraic topology in the context of quantum error correction. You will learn about manifolds, cellulations, chain complexes, and their relation to CSS codes like the surface code. Enjoy! :)

I'm excited to share our work "Universal adapters for quantum LDPC codes" scirate.com/arxiv/2410.03628
As new code families are discovered, the next question has been- how do we compute on them?
We provide a concrete way to enable measurements or mediate with any other LDPC code 1/n

Last year I’ve spent some months at @XanaduAI. I wanted to use that time to finally properly understand fault-tolerant MBQC. Digging in the literature I found that previous works didn’t fit my style of thinking. It was time for something new!

Happy to finally release our work on quantum rainbow codes, a fun collaboration w/ Tom Scruby & Mark Webster! 🌈
Generalizing color codes, we construct a new class of LDPC codes that can have non-Clifford gates, constant rate and growing distance

We studied some examples numerically, but the best ones we've found so far are still quite big (N~24k). However, we have not studied the full space of small rainbow codes yet, and Mark's code is available online if you would like to give it a try!
