When and how will quantum computing broadly benefit humanity? Despite exhilarating recent progress, we still don’t know. Here my friend Jens Eisert and I assess the current status and the challenges ahead. We are optimistic about the quantum future, but there’s a lot of work to do. arxiv.org/abs/2510.19928

We're confident our modular approach to FTQC is the most practical and will succeed quickly and spectacularly, so we're happy to take on DARPA's challenge in QBI and prove our approach to fault-tolerant quantum computing to the world. darpa.mil/news/2025/companie…

🛠️ if interested in recent designs for fault-tolerant quantum computing, stop by our session Thursday March 20th 3:12-3:48 PM :) lnkd.in/gXiX_Q7G
At this years APS we will present our path towards FTQC. This is because of our recent theoretical results have brought a high-level architecture into shape which aligns with our roadmap to enable FTQC by 2029. See linkedin.com/pulse/ibms-path…

This is the first paper together with my grad student Ryan who worked very hard on this. Also check out this recent related work offering a complementary approach to gates in qLDPC codes xitter.cf/eshaswaroop/status/184… 5/5
I'm excited to share our work "Universal adapters for quantum LDPC codes" scirate.com/arxiv/2410.03628 As new code families are discovered, the next question has been- how do we compute on them? We provide a concrete way to enable measurements or mediate with any other LDPC code 1/n

qLDPC codes offer efficient storage of quantum information. It is less clear how to use them for fault-tolerant quantum computing in a resource efficient way. In scirate.com/arxiv/2411.03302 we show how to obtain logical entangling gates without the use of any additional qubits. 1/5

As a special case, the overhead for joint measurements can be reduced from O(dlog^2(d)) to O(d) in the case of some topological codes 9/10

These are explicit examples of how our adapters can also be a tool for mediating between codes with large rate for space-efficient memory & those with additional symmetries enabling fault-tolerant logical gates, relevant in current regime. joint work w Ted & @quantom_info :) n/n
