Everyone, meet Chunky McChunkface. This 34g #dormouse recorded today is just 4g off our heaviest ever #dormouse but still some time left to put on a bit more weight..he might not fit in the box though if he does 🤣 He deserves to be idolized around the #world @NottsDormice @PTES
Any idea on this bone found in a Lincolnshire woodland?@Skull_Bloke

#DormouseWeek 🐭🍂
The water storing capabilities of #HimalyanBalsam is astounding. Very satisfying to watch it glug glug glug immediately after pulling. No more need for plastic water bottles, just arm yourself with a balsam plant or two 🤣🤣 #invasivespecies
The Nottinghamshire #dormouse populations are going from strength to strength. This weekend's monitoring of one of the woodlands recorded a whopping 48 #dormice. For reference, May 2023 recorded 22. *Handled under licence* @NottsDormice @PTES @NottsBAG @NEEastMidlands
Is this raw #sewage in the river Trent at Stoke Bardolph? Many wet wipes too. Has there been a discharge? Not what you want to see on a walk along the river on a hot day @EnvAgency @stwater
Moments before the cut, bees & hoverflies dance around the flowerheads as further along the bank the metal dragon churns up the wet grass & wipes out the minuscule communities that shelter within its depths. Nonsense management. @EnvAgency #ColwickPark #destruction

Why @EnvAgency do we need to be turning flood banks into lawns? Yesterday, the Colwick banks were awash with colour, pale pinks of Lady's smock, yellows of dandelions & buttercups, blues of speedwell & whites of early flowering cow parsley #ecologycrisis #naturedeficit
Well, that's a wrap. The April #dormouse monitoring is now complete, & what a busy weekend we've had. An incredible 41 #dormice recorded. Many are still likely to be in hibernation, emerging in May @PTES @NottsDormice @Nottswildlife @NEEastMidlands
Dormouse season has officially begun for @NottsDormice 31 torpid #dormice recorded during the first monitoring check of the year

The State of Britain's Dormice 2023 report is here.
Hazel dormice have declined by 70% since 2000. But despite alarming topline statistics, reintroductions and other projects are making a difference locally ensuring a future for dormice.
