**Breaking News** today we recorded a #dormouse in a private woodland to the west of the #reintroduction site. This is huge news as it confirms that the #dormice have begun to disperse into the wider #Nottinghamshire landscape #Success @PTES @NottsMammals @NottsBAG

Well, that's a wrap. The April #dormouse monitoring is now complete, & what a busy weekend we've had. An incredible 41 #dormice recorded. Many are still likely to be in hibernation, emerging in May @PTES @NottsDormice @Nottswildlife @NEEastMidlands

Interesting talks so far discussing the importance of scrub habitats for #dormice and where dormice hibernate. We've heard research about how the weather and climate change is affecting current dormice decline and looked at predicted future trends.

The State of Britain's Dormice 2023 report is here.
Hazel dormice have declined by 70% since 2000. But despite alarming topline statistics, reintroductions and other projects are making a difference locally ensuring a future for dormice.

The easiest workshop we've ever run, no hard work involved. Open up the first #dormouse box & watch the faces of each of the participants erupt into huge smiles. Kudos to @Mammal_Society for another fab conference. Thanks for having us. See you in 2024!

#Dormouse breeding season has officially begun. Yesterday's #Nottinghamshire monitoring check recorded 27 adult #dormice & 3 litters totalling 11 youngsters. Depending on food availability & weather, the breeding season can span late May to late September @NottsDormice @PTES
Another example of successful partnership on a grand scale. Many organisations involved to make this #dormouse retroduction happen, including @nationaltrust @PTES @NatForestCo @LeicsR @NaturalEngland @NottsDormice @WildwoodTrust @ZSLconservation @PaigntonZoo

What a cracking day to be out in a #woodland especially when said woodland happens to be #TreswellWood, an ancient woodland, SSSI & a botanical heaven. Oh, & it supports a thriving #dormouse population. Today's monitoring recorded 19 #dormice inc. at least 1 pregnant female @PTES
Our best April session on record, 23 #dormice in total. All good weights after emerging from #hibernation. One individual was last recorded in September 2021, not recorded at all in 2022. Wonder what adventures he's been on..... @PTES @Nottswildlife @NottsBAG
