There’s a world where AF gets their spending under control, actually decentralizes the network and operations, and uses the remaining Treasury ALGO to fund node rewards for a long time. Example- they have 1.1B left. Dedicate 750M to validator rewards over 20 years. That’s enough to keep the network secure until txn fees grow to sustain it. The coin stays capped. Everyone wins. But that world doesn’t exist. They burned through most of the Treasury already and now seem set on keeping what’s left for themselves, while solving the validator funding problem by uncapping the supply and adding tail emissions. If the Treasury had been managed right, this wouldn’t even be a discussion. We’d have decades of runway and a capped coin. Instead, we’re being told inflation is necessary while not discussing the af Treasury and why we can't use that. So we’re in a bit of a pickle. If we vote yes, we reward the Foundation for reckless spending, and allow them to continue running the Treasury to zero. If we vote no, we risk the network hollowing out as running nodes becomes unprofitable and validators drop off, on top of AF continuing to run the Treasury to zero. Neither is the ideal. But if emissions are inevitable (because AF refuses to give up the ALGO which was meant for the community), it has to come with strings attached to the af and their spending. They need to have a fixed budget which is enforced programmatically, community representation on the board, among other things. This cannot be a bailout AF.
