Big launch at the office today! So you see, HR technology in Africa has largely been built for people who sit at a desk, whereas most of Africa's workforce doesn’t. Even the guys who do, sometimes don’t want to log in to a whole new system to carry out simple tasks. So today, @getPaidHR is launching WhatsApp and USSD access across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. Employees can now check or download their payslips, request leave and access their earned wages without downloading an app or logging into a portal. For employers, this means every worker gets the same HR experience as your office staff, whether they are on a site, in a warehouse, at a branch or on a shift. It needs no new hardware and no new app. Personally, this is a massive milestone for me. I’ve always wanted to break the barriers and obstacles of adoption on our platform and I’m more than proud of the team who worked on this to give thousands of people on the PaidHR platform more access to the life-improving tools we built for them. Shout out to @lekanutty and the whole team. Introduce me to your HR team, finance or ops teams. Let’s elevate the work experience for you and them.

I saw someone in the comments ask how young people can build this. One healthy unassuming way is to discuss taxes, pensions and investment opportunities honestly. Spending or money habits and behaviours differ but it gives you a general idea. Also choose friends on the basis of competence and ask yourself, would I let this person lead me if we took turns to guide each other? Support and respect each other... meet regularly. Discuss opportunities and ways to be disciplined and prudent. Ensure core values align... this takes time but it is necessary. What starts happening after these things is that the conversation about money naturally happens
My close friends know my income, and I know theirs as well. We discuss money, spending habits, and investments. Despite our varying financial situations, we all contribute equally when we go out. There’s no sense of entitlement or expectation based on someone’s higher income. No one pocket watches and that’s why transparency can exist

Astryx v0.2.0 is out: our first minor release, with end-to-end RTL support. New `useDirection()`, `getLocaleDirection(locale)`, provider-level `dir`, mirrored components, richer Avatar/DropdownMenu/input APIs, more theme targets, and a big a11y pass. One breaking change: TabList `orientation` was removed, and `npx astryx upgrade --apply` handles it. github.com/facebook/astryx/r…

Haha 😆 they will kill you for this statement o ! But I agree we don’t face the truth. Imagine you work for a big org in multiple counties the guys in developed and productive countries will earn more. Our government doesn’t help because there is no law to protect and even based off our minimum wage the floor is low. Too many issues with our wage structure

In 2024, my house got flooded. An extremely painful and even embarrassing experience for me. I moved to another part of town in response. Last year, after driving in water, I had to change the steering rack of my wife’s car. I responded by swapping our cars into full-on amphibious vehicles to combat this year’s flooding. I don’t know what other lifestyle changes I’ll be forced to do but what I know is that this is not sustainable in the long term. If the leadership of the state don’t bite the bullet and initiate long term remediation for this problem, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a major disaster.
