Running, and even simply being able to move, is a privilege.
If you’re making an effort to take care of your health every day, despite everything life throws at you, you should be proud of yourself!
Someday, when you’re older, you might look back and wish you could run at that “turtle pace” just one more time.
Pace shaming has no place in the running community.
Solid advice

There will always be someone running faster. The more you run, depending on your purpose and frequency, you’ll definitely get faster, but it doesn’t happen overnight.
Still, it doesn’t take away the honest work you are doing. There was a time a sub 1hr 10k was the goal too for me.

New Half Marathon PB Alert!
This one was fueled by grit, and then frustration.
My phone got stolen over the weekend, and I poured the frustration into this run. It was also a great avenue to test my “Forge Series” and my current fitness level.
Thankfully, I was able to clinch a sub95mins Half Marathon 🫡. I am glad about this, I hope to get better and see where the road leads.
Thanks to Coach Tunde and the amazing guys at Front Pack for organizing today’s Half Marathon time trial. You guys are the best.
Today I had the privilege and honour of serving as a pacer at the Lagos Virtual edition of the Run Club Abuja Charity Run. Twas fun pacing the Half Marathon group with target time of 1hr 45mins.
Interestingly, I had only one pal to pace and twas a great outing. Twas a nice experience as he successfully crushed his target pace. I also accidentally beat my previous Half Marathon PB by a second 😂
Twas nice sharing the track with many other great runners who ran for this cause. Let’s do this again 💪🏿

I think a lot of runners seriously underestimate how much room they have to improve.
In 2022, I ran my first marathon in 3:30:28.
Last weekend, I ran Chicago in 2:34:49.
Nearly 56 minutes faster.
When I crossed the finish line in Chicago, my 2022 self still had a 10K to go.
Between those two races, I ran nearly 12,000 miles and spent over 1,700 hours on the bike.
Four and a half years later, I still don’t know how fast I can get.
And if you’re early in your running journey, you probably don’t either.
Running early hours of the morning and it was so hard majorly from how hot it was. At a point bought very chilled water and emptied it on my body cos it felt like I was overheating. Just see the data from coros.
Be careful out there people

Anyways I talked about some numbers from the @learnpoliticsng youth voters perception report that we will be launching next month. Particularly excited about that

Yes, yes, yes.
Running is free. And whatever expenses you incur in making the sport enjoyable to you is relative.
Shouldn't be difficult to get at all.
This is exactly my position
It's not an imposition on others but a preference and we're ALLOWED to have and hold them in as much as it doesn't hurt anyone
I genuinely did not expect this tweet to upset so many people.
For the record, I don’t think anyone needs a $295 singlet, a $1,200 Garmin, or $500 sunglasses to run a marathon. I never suggested otherwise.
I just thought it would be funny to add up the full retail value of everything I wore in Chicago, along with what I spent on the actual race weekend. A lot of that gear gets used regularly and will continue to be used long after this race.
Could I have done Chicago for significantly less money? Of course.
But I work hard for my money and running is one of my biggest passions. I love the gear side of the sport. I care about what I wear on race day. And I’m perfectly happy spending a little extra on things I genuinely enjoy.
I’ve now run 7 marathons and Chicago was only the second one I’ve had to fly to. The travel, hotels, and entry fees for World Marathon Majors add up FAST.
And this is something I tell runners all the time. If your main goal is to run a PR, you absolutely do not need to race a World Major. There are so many smaller marathons that cost a fraction of the price and can actually be better opportunities to run fast.
At the end of the day, you can spend $100 on running or $10,000 on running. Neither makes you more of a runner than the other.
I just happen to really enjoy spending money on this hobby.
Apparently a little too much.

The issue here is that the Minister said on national TV that they’ve conducted EIA. For the nature and scale of the project, you shouldn’t be making sudden discoveries midway.
Even though thhe Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway was originally planned to hug the Ondo coastline, but soil investigations revealed massive peat deposits 40-50 metres deep along that route. Peat is weak organic soil that must be fully excavated and replaced before any stable road can be built far deeper and costlier here than the manageable layers in Lagos.
Unsuitable marine sand and major water crossings would have required even longer, more expensive bridges. The minister and the engineering team therefore realigned the route to continue via the East-West Road after President Tinubu’s approval.
This was pure prudent engineering, not politics: forcing the original path risked structural failure, chronic flooding, and higher cost and Nigerians should commend the government for prioritising durability and value for money over a rigid “coastal” label.
In short, building on 50-metre peat would have been a disaster waiting to happen!
Was laughing at those who said WR was on the line. Whenever the field is stretched in a marathon, JK has always fallen short. I hope he works on it else he'll be considered half mary merchant.

Episode 2 of #PromisesToPolicies
Lagosians, let’s talk.
Rent is rising. Traffic steals hours. Flooding disrupts lives and businesses. Waste management remains a challenge.
As 2027 approaches, candidates will make promises. Our job is to ask.
This one that people are casually dropping 15 minutes 5km, it's like we'll have a very high number of Sub3 marathons for ABLCM 2027 🤔

I grew up playing The Sims 3 and always wondered what it would be like if the Sims lived in a world inspired by ours.🤷🏽♀️
Then I saw @eureka_seamless riding a danfo through Lagos, and it sparked an idea: Lagos Life Sims.
Take a look around. Who knows, you might make a new friend in the Sims world.
