Big launch at the office today! So you see, HR technology in Africa has largely been built for people who sit at a desk, whereas most of Africa's workforce doesn’t. Even the guys who do, sometimes don’t want to log in to a whole new system to carry out simple tasks. So today, @getPaidHR is launching WhatsApp and USSD access across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. Employees can now check or download their payslips, request leave and access their earned wages without downloading an app or logging into a portal. For employers, this means every worker gets the same HR experience as your office staff, whether they are on a site, in a warehouse, at a branch or on a shift. It needs no new hardware and no new app. Personally, this is a massive milestone for me. I’ve always wanted to break the barriers and obstacles of adoption on our platform and I’m more than proud of the team who worked on this to give thousands of people on the PaidHR platform more access to the life-improving tools we built for them. Shout out to @lekanutty and the whole team. Introduce me to your HR team, finance or ops teams. Let’s elevate the work experience for you and them.

Okay, final update for today. We found out that many of our clients, despite having subscribed to PaidHR for many months or years, only unlocked 20-30% of the capabilities of the platform. Because we lead with simplicity and flexibility, many people don’t realize how robust the platform actually is. So we got to work. Today we present PaidGuide. An AI agent that lives in your @getPaidHR account that you can ask for stuff. Just talk to it about what you are thinking in the context of HR software, it will show you how to do it, or you can ask it to actually carry out the tasks for you. PaidHR can now be said to (truly) be your AI-powered HR platform.

Useful report. Good to see it shared as an aggregate snapshot. Payroll data is some of the most sensitive data a company holds, so anonymised, rolled-up numbers like this are exactly the right way to learn from it.

There’s a YC backed company in San Francisco called Pave. It’s a HRTech company at its core, but their long term strategy is to become the underlying data and software infrastructure companies use to make compensation decisions in America. @dayozilon and his friend, Toni Campbell, told me about the company back in 2022 when they invested in PaidHR. They asked if that strategy was in my future plans for our company. I said yes, even though, I had no idea how and when we’ll get there. This report, is our first step in that direction. It aggregates data across the PaidHR platform and presents the results for employers and employees to become more informed about the compensation structure of our market. It’s a sequel to our state of the employed report that we published in 2024. Back then our data wasn’t rich enough to give a balanced view so we sponsored field work to gather the data. But in 2026, PaidHR has matured significantly and we now present our PaidRight Compensation Intelligence report. It’s free to access, read it and become more knowledgeable about the compensation dynamics of our market. It will continue to evolve year on year as we hold up our sustained commitment to being Africa’s backbone for HR technology and employee wellbeing. Link to the actual report follows below this tweet. techcabal.com/2026/10/12/pai…

We carved a niche for ourselves by offering one of the best payroll engines Africa has seen. The plan has always been to give it to other people so that they could offer it to their own clients. Frankly, we can’t acquire all the customers in Africa, but all Africans deserve great payroll tech. Today, we are finally there. We present Vuzo. The embedded payroll platform for African businesses. If you want to embed payroll in your platform, or just want to know more about how it works, please dm me. vuzo.africa/

So, before you settle on a number for your next hire, take a look at the bigger picture. Download the PaidRight report: report.paidhr.com/paidright2… Better salary decisions start with better salary data.

That’s why we created PaidRight. Our latest report explores salary data across roles and salary brackets, helping you better understand the compensation landscape and make more informed decisions about pay.
38
This is where salary data becomes useful. Having a clearer picture of what different roles and salary brackets look like in the market can help employers make more informed compensation decisions.
34
A previous employee’s salary might give you a starting point, but it doesn't necessarily reflect the current market rate. And while the budget matters, setting compensation without understanding market benchmarks could make it harder to attract and retain the right talent.
41
Each approach offers a different perspective, but here’s the question: does your salary offer reflect what the role is actually worth in the market?
41
Some employers look at what the last person in the role earned. Others turn to industry benchmarks, the candidate’s expectations, or simply what the budget allows.
272
We took a closer look at what Nigerians are earning across roles, industries, and career levels, and there’s a lot to unpack. If you’ve ever wondered “Am I being paid what I’m worth?”, this one’s for you. Kindly check out the full PaidRight report 👉 lnkd.in/dGUTwssa 💙

And then there was: “I just pick a number.” 😭 No calculations, no market research, just vibes. We understand.” You can know the salary you want and the salary you need, but do you know where your current salary actually sits in the market?
