X : fracking, hydrogen and new nuclear are needed to solve the energy crisis.
Me : 1 out of 3 ain't bad.
X : Hydrogen? Fracking?
Me : The other one. What you're missing is renewable, understanding the supply chain of the grid and policy shifts for subsidies / new build.

Awesome session with the manufacturing research group. Finished the investment policy ... was it AI? was it digital twins? was it process improvement? was it traditional management? was it agile?
Nope. Improving awareness of the supply chains and right tooling.

X : Who are the worst execs? Those lacking strategy?
Me : Most have little situational awareness (i.e. no maps) and hence strategy is just words. The worst, blame execution (i.e. others) for their failure of strategy. The worst of the worst, blame culture for the same.

Fabulous session with the healthcare research group. Finally narrowed it down to 4 areas of investment that seem to matter - AI? IoT? Telemedicine? Robots? VR? New Drugs? ... diagnosis, standardising data, auditing to health outcomes and quality of data.

X : Are "public goods" to the right of "utility"?
Me : It's an interesting idea. We commodify something (social -> economic value), we then commoditise it, then we decommodify it (economic -> social value). I only know how to map the bit in the middle.

On the Friday spaces we talked about gender using this map, it quickly moved onto the monstrous situation in the US where women are losing control of their own bodies ... I see that Undersecretary Dolores wants to bring that horror to the UK - independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

X : Should there be another stage after commodity such as "legacy"
Me : No. Most "legacy" is custom built stuff which evolved long ago ... take compute. Legacy stuff was all the custom built stuff but now includes product ("servers") as compute has evolved to a utility.

X : How would you set up a Dept of Supply chains?
Me : First, you'd realise how important supply chains are ... even in defence where we have new theatres ...

On the question of sanctions, the understanding of supply chains and the use of protocols such as SWIFT ... I will note that the Russian Ruble is now worth more than it has been for many years.
Good references / pointers to what is happening would be welcome.

NOOOO ... this is the wrong play. The purpose of sanctions is to cause economic harm. We should be demanding that management consultancy services are provided at a discount to Russia, if anything there should be a ban outside of Russia ->

“How do we get our employees engaged in security?”
Perhaps a better question..
The bottleneck isn’t that operations people aren’t interested in security.
